Hello to all. Am new to the forum and also very new to the game. Just started playing FM about a week back and am hooked as can be. I've started playing with Arsenal and in a week I've managed to reach season 2010!! My team:
Thats my usual team that I play in important matches. Juninho is pretty much finished. I bought him in 09 for about 1M because I didnt have anybody really good at taking corners or free-kicks.
In my reserves, I've got plenty of quality youth:
GK: Degre
CB: Schmoller
LB: Bale, Traore
RB: Ratinho (cant get a WP for him!)
Now, I've won almost every trophy and havent really spent much over the years. I've only really bought youth all the time. Only major buy was Klose who I got in my second season. Traded Reyes and 12-15million and they gave me Klose which has been a blessing because he's my top scorer every season. Akinfeev I bought by selling some players who I managed to get good deals for. Freddie went for about 5.5, Almunia for 2 (yes, I ripped them off!), Adebayor for almost 8 and a few I cant remember. I used the release clause to get Villa in the first season itself because I needed a striker. I think these were only 3 big signings.
I've got a substantial amount to spend this year. They gave me many options and I took the one which gave me nearly 85million. I want to buy alteast one big name for my midfield. TBH, I only want to buy Kaka. I've managed to negotiate a deal with Milan for about 52M. I need some advise on whether I should accept or not. Also, I need a CB/RB. Am thinking of letting Eboue go. I'm sure I'll get around 7M for him. Milan is interested but somehow they wont take him as part of the Kaka deal. I put down 48M + Eboue but they said no. Oh well. But yeah, I want a CB/RB and I'm probably going for Richards. That should be just about all for my transfer kitty.
I need some tips on whether I should buy them. Or if not them, who else? Any other tips on the team are welcome. I play the reserves quite a bit in the season as well. Whenever I get an easy match, I usually play about 5-6 guys from my reserve. And all CC matches are played by the reserves (hey, I'm Arsenal remember?!). So there's not much of a problem about keeping them happy. Whenever someone does get unhappy, I bring him in the first team and give him 5-6 matches and he's fine. I've also got most of them tied down on long deal so no worries there either.
So any tips would be great. My two BIGGEST problems are that I still leak goals quite a bit. I cant manage more than 10-15 clean sheets in the season. Although I score an average of 4 goals a game, it's really not a problem but I would like to sort that out though. The other problem is yellow cards! I get them at a rate of almost 1.4/game. Thats ridiculous. In a game against Man Utd a while back, I had no less than 7 players on yellows!!! And I got even put the setting on hard tackling! Its always on normal. Any help there would be great.

Just noticed that I've got Hleb in my team. I actually sold him. He went for a whopping 20 million in my second season. I bought Navas in that (release clause of 14M) and Gourcuff for about 6-7M. Wanted Iniesta instead of Navas (he had a release of 18M), but he didnt want to come. Now the bastards have put him on a 40M realease clause!!

I would rather let Hoyte and Vanden Borre go rather than Eboue cause they are simply not Arsenal material. I am sure Kaka is a good player but do you really need him? Fabregas and Bodmer are both excellent players and you probably need a more defensive minded player instead of an offensive one, try Lucas or Arouca. Yea and you should get a new CB as well, Richards sounds good.
And an average of 4 goals a game sounds pretty dodgy but I shall give you the benefit of the doubt. As long as you outscore your opponents, then you should be doing fine
Lol. Nothing dodgy mate. Hand on heart! Klose is a GOD for me. Even Henry cant touch him. I just play Klose and Henry/Villa upfront most of the time. And RVP is not bad either. Klose gets 40 goals a season easy. Henry and Villa are both in the 30's and RVP is not too far behind (only because he gets fewer games than them). Fabregas and Rosicky and brilliant as well when it comes to scoring. Rosicky is a 20+ assists a season guy!! :eek: I got an offer for 25M for him and turned it down. He's that good.
As for Kaka, no I dont really need him but I must confess I really want a "big" name. A DM is not really required tbh. Gilberto still does a job if you play him every other match or so and Flamini is beating all expectations. He's really one that people playing with Arsenal should hang on to. His stats never seem to improve but he always plays well for me. And seems to come up with a goal in big matches as well. He scored against Man Utd, Chelsea AND Madrid last season. ALL AWAY!!! He's my Gattusso!! I've also got Bodmer whos pretty good there and Denilson and Diaby waiting in the reserves. So probably say no to DM. Is there a better AMC than Kaka? I mean in terms of getting a good deal? I really dont have anybody for that position. Fabregas is terrible if you play him AMC. Play him CM and he's amazing.
One more question and I'll shut up. I've just installed the 7.02 patch. Never had one before this. I didnt have Pato when I started the game. But after the patch he's there at Milan. He's 20 years old and doesnt really have great stats. But when I look at the scout report (Grimandi is brillant!), he says buy as a last resort but in the valuation, he says that Milan will not let him go because they seem him a hot prospect for the future and I'll need to bid about 5M to get him. What do you think? Still get him or no?
Pato is awesome, I would definitely get him. Look at what the scout says about his future prospect, if he will turn into a "leading Premier League striker" or just "good" or just "decent". I find that the scouts' evaluation on the youngster's final product is usually relatively accurate.
I know he's supposed to really good even in the game. But my scout (Grimandi, who I think is really good), says that buy him "as a last resort"!!! But then in him scout report, he also says that Milan are unlikely to sell him cheap because THEY think he is a hot prospect for the future!
judging potential ability 20 and judging current ability 19+. most players devolp untill they get 24 years old in the game so very important to scout young players.
have 3-4 diffenrt suprb scouts and use em 2-3 times each on a player u want. that way u get alot of info in players :weaknes,strenght,avaibility and so on. players that are rated as future stars in the premiership are the one u should go all in for.very few get that rating. like 1/10 wonderkids
