It's now January 7th and we're still going extremely well. I'm still yet to sign or sell and doubt I will this season. We are unbeaten now in 15 matches, through to the 5th round of the Spanish Cup and, quite incredibly, still top of La Liga.

Top 6

Pos Inf Team Pld Won Drn Lst For Ag G.D. Pts 1st Atlético 18 13 3 2 44 22 +22 42 2nd Valencia 18 12 3 3 30 13 +17 39 3rd Barcelona 18 12 2 4 33 12 +21 38 4th Sevilla 18 12 2 4 27 12 +15 38 5th R. Madrid 18 8 6 4 21 12 +9 30 6th Zaragoza 18 8 5 5 25 25 0 29

5 best results:

Real Zaragoza 1-6 Atletico Madrid
Valencia 2-3 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid 3-0 Sevilla
Atletico Madrid 2-1 Barcelona
Real Madrid 0-1 Atletico Madrid

I'm not sure to decide which win was better from the Barca and Real Madrid ones. Barca are higher are in the league than Madrid and we were a goal down with 7 minutes left before Torres scored a brace, whilst against Real Madrid we got the winner before half-time but it was against our rivals so it's all the more sweeter.

Meh, as if I care, we're top

Sergio Aguero picked up an injury and will be out for 5 months which is a huge blow as he's been top notch for me

And it was on the 28th of January he was injured so I had to quickly move for a cheap striker as a stopgap in the absence on Aguero for the rest of this season.

In the end I signed L. Mkoena for under £400k

Well I've been playing as Atletico since I got the game (now on season 2010/2111) and things are going really well:

First Division: [IMG] [/IMG]

Champions League: [IMG] [/IMG]

At the start of the game I replaced my staff and now all my training sections have 5 stars. I also hired better physios because you got to have the basics worked out so you can start building your squad.

Anf here's the team in 2010: [IMG] [/IMG]

And other achievements: [IMG] [/IMG]

The chairman and the fans already consider me as a Atletico Legend

Update (3rd Season house game; house mate playing as Barca)
-----------------------------------------
P13 W7 D1 L5 F23 A17 PTS 22
-----------------------------------------
7 Points off top of the table (who is my housemate) Barca and despite playing him and putting in the worse performance of the season (losing 5-0) I am still optimistic for this season in a top 3 finish. My housemate has done all he can over the past 3 seasons to pry torres from me, and finally I may give in to his latest offer of £45million, but hes hit 11 in 12 games in the league so whether or not I can find someone that clinical if I did sell remains to be seen.

Emiliano Vecchio is on his way in January, and Federico Laurito has joined on loan from Udinese - my scout said he has the potential to be as good as torres apparently.

Throughout to the Spanish Cup 5th round, where we have been drawn against Villareal. And despite getting destroyed away to West Ham (losing eventually 4-1) we marched on to crush Hadjuk 5-0 and dominate PSV 2-1 (scoreline doesnt say it all) so qualify for the next round of the UEFA.

So its been up and down for atletico, despite only the 5 defeats (admittedly in 13 is not championship title standard) they have all been particularly unlucky defeats for atletico, obviously except the barca game, with goals dropping in around the 90th minute mark to sink us.

thats all for now!

Excuse my lateness in joining the thread, but have to nonetheless. I love playing as Atletico

I'm a huge Aguero fan and have pretty much followed him since he was 15, now he has arrived in Europe I think he will go from strength to strength.

I've always loved playing as Atletico in FM, I seem to get some superb movement and some beautiful goals scored with them, and FM07 is no different. I use a 4-4-2 rather than a more European tactic, with some serious success, and am into the Champion's League in my second season.

I've brought in several youngsters, as the youth system is pretty terrible IMO. There are some great youngsters to begin with (Bernabe et al) but I'm finding that no more come through the ranks.

In: Andreev, Zeefuik, Volkan, Merida, Delle, Kostadinov, Benzerga, as well as the older Erick Delgado as my second goalkeeper.

Out: Azkarate, Pinola, Suarez, Rufino, Ze Castro (£10m to Milan), as well as about 12 players for small money, just to lower the wage bill.
I'm regretting selling Ze Castro as he is really good, but I needed the money and he wanted to leave, so I let him go.

A couple of things I've noticed, or are testing for me..
-Aguero I play up front as a striker with lethal results, and he was my top scorer. Mista was my second striker for much of the season, as Torres simply kept on getting injured . However, even when he is fit, I find it very hard to get him to score as many as I know some of you are able to get him to knock in - I expect I am playing him wrongly (do people play him as a target man? ball to feet?)

-Luccin/Maniche/Costinha are pretty damn good as they are at the start, but they are getting on. After a couple of seasons they will need replacing, which could be expensive. I've seen that Atletico are considering a £14m bid for Xabi Alonso in January, and I reckon the Alonso-type player would be immense.

Keep it up Atletico players

With just over a month to go in the season I've been hit with another three devastating injury blows - Leo Franco (3 months), Antonio Lopez (5 months) and Martin Petrov (5 months) who all join Aguero on the injury list for the remainder of the season.

As for the season itself, me and Valencia are neck-an'-neck with 7 games left, both on 73 points although I have a far better goal difference and head-to-head (beat them 3-2 and 3-1). It looks like going all the way down to the wire as we're both dropping very few points.

Also, I have to play Valencia in the Semi-Final of the Spanish Cup too

Just like the German cup, does anyone else find the Spanish cup too easy? Even using my fringe & reserve players I've walked it 2 years running. Maybe it's just me, but I loathe domestic cups as they're nothing but injury magnets. Even when I try to get punted out, I seem to walk these games.

Hell, i even won 6-nil against a full strength Barca.

I dunno tbh, I'm in the Semis and am about to play the 2nd Leg at home to Valencia.

I've had some tough games and I don't think it's as easy as you feel.
