I've played three seasons with Aston Villa, now here is s sum up:
Season 1:
In: Gonzalo Higuain - £2.7M
Benedict Vilakazi - £250k
Freddy Adu - £3M
Kristopher Hæstad - Free
Justin Hoyte - £1.7M
Out: Jlloyd Samuel - £1.7M
Didier Agathe - £170k
The season went pretty well, and until Feb/March we were fighting for an EURO Cup position. But due to a very bad season ending (5 goals on the last 15 league matches), we ended up on a dissapointing 9th position. Adu had some great matches, and showed great development, but had some set backs due to injuries. Luke Moore scored a bunch of goals, though.
Season 2:
In: Tom Taiwo - £850k
Michael Barnes - £700k
Mirko Vucinic - £4.3M
Out: Lee Hendrie - Free
Great season, ended up on a good 4th position, and qualified for Champions League the next season. Vucinic was a fans favourite, but only nettet 12 league goals. Moore continued his great displays, and netted 25 league goals, and ended up League Top Scorer with good margin.
Season 3:
In: Daniel Sturridge - £4.8M
Jeff Bailey (Newgen) - £850k
Steven Taylor - £12M
Cedric Evina - £2.8M
Fantastic season. After a great first half of the season we were fighting for the 1st position with Man Utd, but the great form didn't last, and after Moore was ruled out for the last 3 months of the season, we eventually ended up 3rd position, 2 points a head of Arsenal. Daniel Sturridge was the best buy of the Premiership, and he and Vicinic netted 20+ league goals each. Got knocked out of the Champions Cup in the first knockout round by Dortmund (damn you Nuri Sahin!), lost the League Cup final against Arsenal, and won the FA Cup final against Liverpool.
Ahead of the 4th season I have £22M transfer budget, but I'm not sure who to spend it on yet. Mascherano is first on my list, but relegated West Ham declined a £15M + %40 sell-on, and I'm not paying more than that for a Championship player!
I will get back to you in a couple of days, when the 4th season is over
