I'm about to start a new game with Villa, I would appreciate if someone could point out the weaknesses in the team.

Villain_1,

Im certainly having great fun with my Villa game at present. I got Darren Bent for £11m. Worth every penny. Up front is goals goals goals at the moment, Higuain has 29, Defoe 26, Bent 17, Saviola 12 and Delfouneso 6. Add to that goals from midfield and Gareth Bales freekicks, its sexy football at VP.

Abramovic, naturally we're a bit weary of your name, but welcome to Villa!

Bits of advice. Weaknesses in the team, in my opinion is depth. Just like in real life, Villa have a small squad, but could cope with that team if they had to and avoided injuries / suspensions (obviously not possible on FM).

Points of interest, Gabby Agbonlahor is a machine! Can eb trained as AMR to be used in MON's 4-3-2-1 formation to great effect, likewise Luke Moore as a AML who is currently valued at £17m on my game.

We don't really have many 'sellable' players, althought players like Djemba Djemba, McCann, Samuel, Bouma, Sorenson can often be offloaded for £1-2m each.

Baros is a tricky one. On some games he's a legend, some games he's a donkey. Sometimes he gets sold for £9m, on mine it was £2m.

Dave Nugent will be a quality signing for you, £3m from Preston, and will bang in goals for at least 3-4 seasons (or until you find someone better).

Randy is a pretty good chairman, and will always back you in the transfer market, especially if you've got a healthy bank balance, he'll add extra cash for high profile signings.

The youth setup at Villa allows you to bring in Isiah Osbourne (the next Gerrard) and Cahill (John Terry), plus there's another couple of gems in there, but I'll let you find them

Good luck, and enjoy your time at Villa Park.

Thanks for that prophetboy

So far I brought in E. Johnson, Vela and some brazilian goalkeeper( I can't remember his name). Since I play a 4222 formation its good to know that Moore can be re-trained as an AML.

I just have couple more questions. Does anyone use Barry as a leftback if so is he decent, otherwise I dont need him. And can anyone recommend a left winger except Guardado as I bought him in my Portsmouth game and I don't want to buy the same players, exceptions are allowed ie E. Johnson

sounds like a great game you got going there i had saviola in my team on my old game he was great scored 29 goals and then 23 the next season

and Abramovic barry is decent at LB and if you don't have him in your first team plans he is still ideal to keep in the squad as a utility player

Barry always played well for me at LB but you could train him to AML as well.

If you are looking to sign someone though get Freddy Adu. Was amazing on my game. After 3 seasons he was one of the best players in my squad. He would always run past people to get crosses in plus his pace on counter attacks got us alot of goals.

i started a game with villa yesterday.
they ask me for a mid-table place, but with this team i can get an europe place.

The squad:
GK Sorensen/taylor
RB Pasanen/Delaney
LB Bouma/Samuel
CD Cahill/hughes
CD Mellberg/laursen
AMR Gary o'neil/Agbonlahor
AML Guardado/skjelbred
MC Barry/Davies
MC Haestad/Hendrie
AMC Petrov/Skjelbred
CF L Moore/Baros

Players in
Players out
I tried everything to sell baros a angel, but noone wants them
I just need a good playmaker and a DL.

games i've played

Very solid looking team.

You don't really need to bring anyone in. Use Bouma and Barry at LB to see which is best and use McCann in MC.
