just started a game with villa. got 28.5mill to spend. went out and bought luka modric for the left side, agbonlahor on the right, and bought another player from dinamo...vedran corluka. very strong defender to add support to mellberg, laursen, ridgewell and cahill. spent most of budget, 21.5 on defoe but has come with with 4 goals in first 3 league games. beat liverpool 3-0 at anfield 1st game of season. i'll post my squad later and want people to give advice on where to go and how does randy go with giving money out in jan and end of season.

Right guys, Im back again!

Season 3 has finished with my Villa side managing a lowly 5th position. It was really another transition period with more goings than comings in terms of players.

Higuian needed time to settle and Darren Bents' goals started to dry up. As I said, form was a problem, as was losing Craig Gordon for most of the season. I decided to change from my 4-3-2-1, to my renowned 4-4-2 formation that has served me through many years of FM / CM gaming. It worked a treat, helping me rise from 12th to 5th and qualify for Europe (something which had seemed a very unrealistic goal at Xmas time).

Season 3 drew to a close and I had the summer to relfect on some highs and lows. Another trophyless season left the fans demanding, especially due to my inactivity in the transfer market. Worse was to come when Chelski had a £28m offer for Steven Davis accpeted by Randy! He duely left, with a heavy heart (or was that wallet) he claimed, and I sought a replacement. Step forward £17m Fernando Gago!

I also decided to make Javier Saviola a permenant fixture in my squad, and secured his signature for £5.5m after impressing during his loan spell. More firepower still needed I thought. Man City had entered the race for Jermaine Defoe. Armed with a fair chunk of the Steven Davis transfer, I secure his services for £13m. What a set of strikers to choose from - Defoe, Bent, Higuain, Nugent, Delfouneso.

Edu (Ogbuke) was granted his work permit after 2 years in Poland and errupted into the first team. Gareth Bale is now living up to his reputation as a newly crowed wonderkid, and Im batting off offers from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelski and Liverpool for his services.

Season 4 began in a blaze of glory. My team errupted! Cutting every team I played down to size, scoring for fun, keeping the goals out. This was becoming a walk over I thought. My squad rotation was working well, no-one was unhappy. God knows how, but I was starting to think about the title. Obviously I didn't tell the players, but maybe they sensed it, and started drawing again, and even losing a few silly matches.

I had to stop the rot, and in stepped Ricardo Carvalho from Chelski. 900k, signed until the end of the season, and what a difference. He's tightened the defense more than a pair of knickers owned by mother superior. (Although I will blame him for us losing 5-0 to Arsenal away!) Freddy Adu also came in on a free transfer after leaving DC United. Nathan Sturgis has also been granted a work permit and is already being courted by Man Ure and Liverpool.

Chelski stepped up the pace as I went on a cup crusade. I was battering clubs in the Uefa, and has now seen me drawn in the semi's against Newcastle. A 5-0 1st leg victory (seriously) over 9 man Barcelona at VP meant I was through. I had also won the League Cup for the second time, although the FA Cup still proves elusive.

With 5 games to go in season 4, Im expecting to finish 3rd - 4th as Chelski are something like 16 points clear and I've only got 1 game in hand.

I've looked for next season, and agreed to sign Nani for £8.5m. Where he's going to fit in, I really don't know, but he's definitely a talent to have as an option.

As I said in my last post, that youth is my personal drive, I have strengthened the youth system at Villa. In came a 17yr old Portugese rb called Ricardo, a 16yr old Norwegian striker, a 17yr old French midfielder Florain Mahkejdouf (touted as the next Patrik Viera), and also decided to bring two Chinese players over as part of my feeder club entitlement.

My main prospect however, is a 17yr old cb from Nottingham Forest called Dave Reay. He's an Australian with English nationality. Signed him for peanuts and now valued at £4m without even stepping foot in the Premiership. Looks brick too!

Add to this the fact that I have already promoted Nathan Delfouneso, Isiah Osbourne (the new Steven Gerrard), Zoltan Steiber, Erik Lund, and Robert Olejnik. The future is bright, the future is claret and blue.

Just tried signing Raul. RL wants a high profile player then that should do the ticket. FC was prepared to let him go for 15mil but the man himself snubbed us so currently tapping him up!

Anyone tried Podolski?
Anyone had work permis probs with Adu?
