Whats going on? Fresh from finishing 4th in my second season, my players have forgotten how to score! Missing all manner of open goals and opertunities. The worst thing is that we are topping our champs league group including a 3-1 win away at ac milan! scoring 12 goals in 3 games!!!
Then the players are all bitching and moaning about not topping the league! Start bloody scoring and we might!!!!!!

This game can be so fustrating and confusing.

Just started with villa and looking to sell baros to give me some more funds so i can get defoe. i have read that people have been getting offers of 9mill for him but as soon as i transfer list him all the players say they dont want to see him go and i dont get any bids in for him....the most i can get is enquiries and as soon as i say i want 5mill they come back rejecting it. Any help would be grateful

Don't want to worry you but I am in season 2 with villa and have had baros listed for transfer since start of game. Not a single bid - not even a loan offer.

Good morning fellow Villa fans!

Thought I'd drop by and share my experiences with my beloved team and your good selves.

As always, I pick Villa, think I've only ever had a few games where I wasn't them and then always ended up applying for the job to save them from the crap that had been bought by previous regimes.

Anyways, Im into my 3rd season.

1st season was our transition from relegation fodder (damn you DOL) to European football. I finished 8th, which was largely down to dropping points too easily. We were the draw specialists. Creating a solid defence was my aim, so in came Craig Gordon, and Micah Richards set me back 25m in Jan (Randy gave me an additional 10m to make sure we got a big name signing). Dave Nugent also hit 25 goals as a lone gunman in my 4-3-2-1 formation.

In the summer, the squad was added to with players such as Reo-Coker, SWP, Gareth Bale, Curtis Davies. Surely these boys would need time to gel.

2nd season saw a vast improvement from my men, which culimated in a wonderous 2nd place finish and also lifted the League Cup. Largely down to Randy stumping the cash for Darren Bent in the Jan trnasfer window, and his goals single-handedly propelled us into the lofty positions.

Season 2 was memorable, notably for the 3-1 victory over Chelski in the Premiership followed by a 6-1 mauling of Liverpool at Villa Park! We had to win our last match of the season to secure 2nd spot. At home to Man Ure, and sure enough, 2 goals from Darren Bent and a strike from SWP gave us a 3-2 victory.

The summer transfer window opened and the fans were expecting wonders. However, I had different plans. Rather than players coming in, there were departures. Out went Sorenson, Mellberg, Angel, Baros, Hendrie, Hughes, Samuel. Only three players were brought in, Barretto, Saviola on loan, and Ruben Ramos (he'll be used in a couple of years).

My young team were maturing and I had every faith in players such as Fabio Coentrao (28k signing in season 1), Isiah Osbourne, Gary Cahill and a prospect from my reserves, Zoltan Steiber. I also had another prospect making me watch, Nathan Delfuoneso in my U18s. 56 goals last season has made me think about promoting him in cup games.

I've also got Higuian coming in January after a long and drawn out transfer saga took place.

Disaster strikes.... Craig Gordon breaks his leg (8ths) two days before the transfer window closes, Gabby Agbonlahor pulls his hamstring (4mths), Petrov damages a calf (2mths).

How will my young battlers get on in their 3rd season?

Its coming up to November, and we're sitting in a lowly 12th position. Already lost as many games this season as we did throughout all of last year.

Injuries have ravaged my team and confidence is at an alltime low. We're playing well in the Champions League, but its clearly at the expense of our league form.

I am just wondering how you people all get so many quality signings. I am half way through my second season and the only players I have managed to bring in are:

David Martin (GK)
Vanden Borre (AMR)
Andres Guardado (AML)
Andrea Carriciolo (FC)
Luis Ernesto Perez (MC)
The legend that is Eddie Johnson (FC)

I have also sold a number of my players to help me fianance these moves and everytime I ask big Randy for more money he either says that he cant afford to give me any more funds or he has not seen a return in the money he has paid, but he has, I am 3rd in league and cannot buy anyone in the Jan transfer window as I only have 1.5M to spend and teams refuse to sell players like Richards and Davies or they want silly money for them.

I had 15m to spend at the start of season 1, and sold DJx2 1.5m, McCann 1.5m, Samuel 1.9m.

Only bought Gordon 6.5m, Coentrao 28k, Jones 1.8m, Nugent 3m. In Jan, Randy wanted a big name, so coupled with a few million left of my transfer kitty he added the extra for Micah Richards 25m! Ouch.

SWP was available in season 2 for 11m after a lot of tapping, Davies was 800k! Bale was 3m, Pineda 4.5m. Reo Coker was free as out of contract. My transfer budget was 21m.

In Jan, I needed a goal scorer and got Darren Bent for 11m - Randy had to stump the extra cos I, again, a little short.

Saviola is only on loan to me in season 3, and I've got Higuian coming in Jan for 18m. Thats me left with about 4m for the rest of the season. Barretto was also a Bosman free. Wang Dalei cos about 200k.

I only got 2m for Baros in season 3. Mellberg, Angel, Sorenson, Hendrie, all left on Bosmans.

The only other players I've sold for cash were, Bouma 1m, Hughes 800k. I find it difficult to generate funds from sales, but merchandising feeder clubs help.

My emphasis is really on youth coming through the system than buying my way to the top, despite how it may seem.

Loving the abbreviation . The problem that I usually have is selling my players. Nobody would take Samuel, Baros, Djemba-Djemba etc. Djemba-Djemba went for 200K after a loan spell at rangers, baros went for 2.5M and nobody wanted Samuel either so only got 450K for him.


PS: Bouma is a legend, I would never sell him. Scored 2 hat-tricks in 2 games for me, could not believe what I was seeing :eek:

In both my Villa games I got bids of 2million for Samuel within a week of starting. Djemba Djemba doesn't ever go for much. Managed to get £3million for Baros. I kept Baros for the first few seasons as cover though.

Think I'm leaving my Villa game now though. Going to wait for the end of the month before starting again.

i always get bids for moore, davis, samuel and djemba in the first season.
i only sell djemba, as he is the only one i cant really use.
i like to keep all my youngsters to see what becomes of them, i do let them go on loan.
i got defoe for 7 mil. euros (dont know how much that is in pounds, he is very cheap when you make a bid for him on the first day of the first season) with some additional fees of a few millions of course (15mil euros in total)
baines for 5,5 (10-11mil euros in total)
downing 22-23 mil. (32mil. euros in total)
micah richards 13-14 mil. (27 mil. in total)

after requesting more money i go from 29mil. euros up to 62. after these 4 buys i still have 25 mil. left... how can i still have this much money left?? first i bought richards (before requesting more money) after that i asked for more funds.

calculation:
start: 29 mil - richards (14 mil) = 15 mil.
ask more money -> 15mil -> 50 mil.

out of experience i found at that if i ask money right away from the first day i have only 16 mil. left after buying those 4 players, now i have 25 mil. left because i did it this way.
