A couple of my mate and I are about to start an on-line game. We have decided that we should start in the championship. I am going to be West Brom and they are Sunderland and Birmingham. I only got the game yesterday so haven't really played it to see what players are out there. So to try and get an advantage over my mate I thought it would be a good idea to ask some top gamers who they think will be good buy's. Keeping in mind I am West Brom and cheaper the better.

So please help

Its the very start of the game, so I think its 4million, but I can sell Curtis Davis and Gera

But surely people have come across good cheap players, players that are willing to come to the championship, no matter what team u are in that league

It just like you said. You don't have that much money. its all about spending on the positions which are priorities - also keep a watch on your wage bill don't just sign "cheap" players per say get the ones you actually need.
Players in the West Brom thread probably know where the weaknesses are.

I've played as Sunderland in the Championship.
If you are playing on the 7.0.2 one of my favourite free transfers available is Diego Gavilan (he is extremely versatile)
I don't know too much about West Brom. But with Sunderland - their backline was their main weakness - so I raided League One English defenders (Alan Tate, Billy Jones, Richard Hinds, Marcus Williams)
The best out of those were Tate and Jones (Jones is a very versatile player as well).
However, West Brom have a great defense so some people who play as West Brom even go to the point in selling your key player Curtis Davies for tons to raise funds for strikers. This is a disputed tactic though. I'd just try and loan a player like Arturo Lupoli or Scott Sinclair. Personally, I'd save as much money in the Championship for spending once you get promoted (depending on how confident you are with your team). But West Brom has such a good team initially its almost guaranteed you'll come top 2. Since none of your friends are Derby - I'd say try buy Giles Barnes though - he turns out into a superstar.
If your friends at Sunderland and Birmingham want to sell you their players probably don't buy as Sunderland and Birmingham players at the start of the game are generally dead wood. I completely changed the entire Sunderland team in my game within 2.5 seasons.
Your West Brom players on the otherhand - Davies, McShane, Koumas etc. will all make it in the Premiership.

doudin, a young swiss striker is cheap and will do a job. might be able to sign an argentine striker called mauro zarate as well.

EDDIE JOHNSON, if u can get him, you'll be golden, then play a direct style, counter attack and the guy will score a 8 or higher every game.

Potential wonderkid from the Scottish league - Branamir Kostadinov is also a good investment.

Lasse Qvist is reasonably cheap alternative if you can't get Eddie Johnson.
