Default Official Fulham Thread

Fulham Football Club are an English football team based in Fulham, London. Founded in 1879, they celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2004, and they are in the top tier of English football, the FA Premier League. Fulham are the oldest professional football team in London, usually considered to have been founded in 1879 (though Cray Wanderers F.C. are the oldest team in London still in existence).[2]

They spent much time in the old First Division (Premiership) through the 60s, but are yet to gain any major honours, their only FA Cup final appearance being in 1975. They did win qualification to the UEFA Cup in 2002 by winning the Intertoto Cup, beating Bologna F.C. 1909 5-3 in the final over two legs. In the UEFA Cup, they won through two rounds before being defeated by Hertha Berlin.

They currently play at Craven Cottage, their famous home since 1896, a riverside ground on the banks of the River Thames in Fulham, having spent two years at Loftus Road while Craven Cottage was undergoing renovations to bring it up to Premier League standards. The club achieved their main aim of avoiding relegation for the 2005-06 season, eventually finishing 12th. The 2006-07 season has been Fulham's worst season to date in the premier league, however a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the second last game of the season has confirmed Fulham's premiership status for next season.

The club's training ground is found near to Motspur Park (and was where Chariots of Fire among others was filmed), where Fulham's Academy is also situated, including a mini-stadium where the reserves play. The Fulham Ladies' team also played the majority of their games here prior to being deprecated in summer 2006

Ok - the transfer window just slammed shut at the start of season one, and after some major wheeling and dealing (the last 24 hours of the transfer window was really tricky)- im on my way.

This is my team Sept 1 '06, backups in brackets.

Gk Niemi(Enyeama)
LB Queudrue(Bocanegra)
RB Rosenior(Volz)
CB Curtis Davies (Skrtel)
CB Knight (Skrtel, Pearce)
DM Diop (Smertin)
AML Brown (Burke,Monnet-Paquet)
AMR Bullard (Burke, S.Davies)
AMC Dempsey (Brown, S.Davies)
FC McBride (Monnet-Paquet)
FC Kerlon (Montella) INJ

Collins John broke his leg like a twig first pre-season game and is out for 6 months. Montella is slowly recovering fitness, few more weeks till hes back.

Out:
Helguson: Ajax: 2.2M
Radzinski WBA: 2.8M
Claus Jensen Ajax: 3.2m (bargained up from first offer of 1.6m!)
Chris James Sunderland: 900k
Runstrom Derby: 500k
Erlich Hull: 1.6M
Christanval Anderlecht: 1M

Tot: 13.8m

I brought in:
V. Enyeama GK Bnei Yehuda: 150k
Curtis Davies DC WBA: 5.75M
Martin Skrtel DC Zenit Peterberg:2.5M
Chris Burke AMRL Rangers: 2.9M
Kerlon FC Cruzeiro 2.4M
Kevin Monnet-Paquet AML/FC Lens 1.7M

Tot: 15.75M

Failed to land Delgado, Guardado, Adu,Corluka,Falcao,Walcott,Pernambuco,Obertan, Ben Arfa, Tainio, Eduardo, Pedro Leon,Aliadiere.

As you can see i really cast the net out there, some of them i didnt have the cas hat the time (Delgado) most of them went to higher profile teams. Aliadiere took less money to go France.

I barely got Curtis Davies, but hes such a monster.. and Skrtel has proved very solid for me before.
Im really taking a chance with Burke, im hoping he'll take the starting AML position from Brownie.

Ive played the first 3 games (none with all my new players) and we've drawn 2 and lost 1. Both of the draws we gave goals away in thelast 15 mins, so im thinking Davies and Skrtel will help clean that up a bit.

When Kerlon signed, the supporters were uneasy. Kerlon promptly announced he saw the club as a stepping stone to greater things, and i was immediately bombarded with criticisms of my purchase and their preference for someone who was fanatical about putting on the shirt etc..He then had a bad debut, scraping a 6, and more calls for him to go to the reserve team.
2 games later hes scored in both games and the fans are loving him...

i've started a game as Fulham, but with the weegie update. got £7m transfer budget which i developed to £13m with sale of Diop (£5m to newcastle) and smertin (£1m to sochaux - high wage earner). have signed plenty of new players, but main ones are:

eddie johnson - cf
banel nicolita - am/r
j rodriguez - cm
n dica - am/lc
pape diakhate - cb
david calaio - rm
ljubijankic - cf
doudin - cf
lee chun-soo - am/cf rlc

there are a few others but i can't remember them off the top of my head. will post screenshots later.

went through pre-season unbeaten, with notable victories being over Leverkusen (1-0) and marseille (5-0). just played first league match against chelsea at the cottage, but got stuffed 4-1 thanks to some comical defending by queudrue.

have got approx £5m still in bank, but have crippling wage budget now, so can't afford wages. am looking to offload a few high earners.

my starting XI so far is:

GK Niemi
RB Volz
LB Queudrue
CB Kinght
CB Diakhate
RM Nicolita
LM Kamara
CM Bullard
CM Rodriguez
CF John
CF Johnson

have plenty of competition for places and am still learning what my best team will be...

will keep you updated how i get on.

hi people, right i have never been fulham, dont no much about them or anything like that but im looking for a good challenge as i am sick of making liverpool win the league 10 years in a row!!!

I am told i get 3.35 mill to spend on the 7.0.2 patch, any suggestions what to do, im a good whealer and dealer btw so i am looking to sign good quality and hopefully make fulham a top half / european team, which is most likley to be difficult!!!
