4th season: Should i switch from Crystal Palace to Liverpool? Take a look at Pools squad please!
Hey, i promoted with Crystal Palace to the Premier League in my 3rd season. At the beginning of 4th season Liverpool approached me with a job offer. Im still hesitant because on one hand i like my crystal palace side full of youngsters and good prospects. on the other side with that fckng player development in 8.0.1 they wont develop much. And liverpool is a big adress in europe so im tempted.
Here's the current squad for Pool:
The board would grant me €79M transfer budget and a wage budget of €2.2M p/w .
Which areas need to be strengthen? The board would want me to win the epl.
thks in advance. appreciate it.

Blimey, that Liverpool squad is almost the same as today.
Without seeing your Palace squad, I don't know whether it is worth it. The 'Pool team will need a lot of strengthening and a lot of players clearing out, and it is always hard to recommend buys as many of the best-value players will have already moved clubs.
Alternatively, you could always try to bring some of your players with you, as I imagine Crystal Palace will be willing to sell when you've gone and players will certainly want to move.
But it really depends on whether you like being the underdog or not? Maybe create two save files, so you can always have the option?

I woudl get rid of Peltier, Antwi, Sissoko, Benayoun, Leto, Crouch, Kuyt and Voronin.
First priority would be a good striker but you don't have megabucks. I would suggest Fred - I have him and Torres in my 2010 Liverpool team and they work well together.
Next up you need some creativity. Again, I have Fernandez and Aguero but they may be beyond your budget. With that side I would be inclined to play Alves as MR and Taylor as DR which at least gives you a bit of width on the right, so its the left side which looks a problem.
For DC you have Agger and Carragher as the first choice - I reckon you only need a decent backup.
To be honest I don't think that's a league winning squad - particularly once you get past the first XI - but you should be close to the top and easily in a CL spot.

Before im off to work a few more words. first of all thank you for your advice. i really like my palace squad but the main problem is really that it is full of unexperienced youngsters (my first xi is with 1-3 exceptions u23). and this is were some annoying bug in 8.0.1 kicks in = players do not develop properly in training, e.g. my star player's stats (b stancu) increased only by 1 point in most of the stats if at all. and i don't have a bad staff. tried different schedules etc.
i reckon i would nearly need a complete overhaul of my team to survive in th epl. that's another reason why im looking for a move.
@lukearts: i know that it is hard tu suggest players in 4th season since you can never know who has moved his club, who is still a bargain etc. but as this is my first save with si's fm at all (only played fifa man. before) im still a but clueless about some parts of the game (effective scouting obv and how to value player by their stats)..

In my opinion i would suggest that you get another Centre Back in, not a back up a very good centre back one that could dominate and lead your defence especially in the air. Not sure whos available etc in your game in the fourth season but i would reccomend you take a look at Ledley King and i think with a transfer budget like what you have at Pool you should be able to attract him no matter what club he is at.
I would also look to bring in a natural left sided midfield player. Obviously you have a few players in your squad that can play on the left but i fell a player who is naturaly suited to that position has a slight advantage and would be better placed to put a decent cross into the box for the head of Crouch or Kuyt.
With the money you have left over i wouold try and save abit for the January transfer window, but i would also try and bring in atleast onve very versatile player doesnt have to be brilliant but can provide that bit more depth to your squad, i would also invest in youth probably get some of my scouts on the look out for [players from 15-18 years old.
Is there any Palace players that you could bring in that could add something to your squad?

don't get rid of Antwi, he is able backup and becomes very accomplished if you train him well enough

If you decide to take over you should be able to make plenty of cash selling players you don't need.
4 world class DMs! I'd sell off Mascherano and Sissoko, but buy in a promising youngster as backup to Lucas.
Benayoun isn't great on the game, so you could probably offload him to a mid-table or European club, but don't expect megabucks for him.
Kuyt is no good on the game and you have to get your tactics just right to get the best out of Crouch, so sell them. Not sure how well Voronin performs in CM, so check his history, see if he scores.
Areas to strengthen - obviously left back needs looking at. Defo need a backup there, and if it's only 2010/11 I doubt Leto can carry ML by himself. Gerrard isn't really a winger, and as I said Benayoun is pants. Anderson is okay on the right but as backup only for a few years still - pry someone world-class for this position. Not hard to find them.
I would spend big on one class striker to accompany Torres, plus someone with good strength, jumping, heading as well as finishing will make an excellent target man for him to feed off (eg, Klose, but I doubt he'll leave Bayern). But as long as your midfield is top notch, you don't have to spend that big on strikers. Look at where Saivet and Stancu are in your game.
I guess it's up to you whether you switch or not. Is Palace without you in charge likely to win things, or is there likely to be a managerial vacancy there in two years leaving the door open for your triumphant return?
Another option (and it's a bit cheeky, and probably not in the spirit of the game) is if you save your current game as something like "Palace 01", then do a second save as "Liverpool 01", you can always come back to the point just before you quit if you don't like Liverpool. Depends how realistic you like your game.

I agree with most of what's been said, if you go for the switch then you definitely need a LB - See where Bale is, need to get a set of decent wingers - look at Silva & Matias Fernandez, Another striker is a must as mentioned have a look for Saviet, also have a look at both of the following - Karim Benzema, Aguero. You should also raise some cash with the sale of the surplus players and being 'pool you should have some reasonable youngsters on your books. Doubt whether you'll win the league in the first year with that squad tho.

I don't really know. Since it's the first time ever i play a SI FM game im a little bit unexperienced with respect to judging player stats for a special league. but according to my coach reports at palace all of my players are at most good enough for any championship side. no talking about the premier league. i only got some youngsters (wijnaldum, alex teixeira) which could be good in a couple of years.

I believe Saivet is still at Bordeaux and Stancu is at my current team. should i take him with me?

Yeah training. is it only me or the training schedules i downloaded from the internet that training doesn't really work? my players are developing so slowly. does any1 of you play with the latest patch AND have decent and working training schedules??

i don't think palace will be up to big things in the premier league. most likely they will struggle and fight against relegation the whole time. even if it's an option i don't like the idea of two savegames. it's stay or go. and although the squad of liverpool has some flaws and is lacking depths i decided it's time to move SO GOODBYE SELHURST PARK AND WELCOME TO ANFIELD!
