For a while I thought I was just having a bad day. My tactics didn't seem to work, players couldn't hit a barn etc.

However, on further scrutiny I discovered one minor detail that might have something to do with it. I had 2 goalkeepers on the pitch. One in the goal and one masquerading(not very well though) as a left back.

I wish and to make matters worse I'm sure I checked the line up at least twice

Putting players in your match squad is a known bug in FM. It happened to me many many times. It helps if you check your suqad every time before the match. And in 5th season I didn't notice this bug any more.

That would be an excellent excuse, but I don't think I can blame this on a bug...at least not a bug in FM

I did, when I found out that my DR is playing in DC position and vice versa. And I put them in the right position one day before the match.

Reminds me of a match I had with my old 3rd division Brazilian squad. My first match as gaffer was in the Espiritu Santo state championship and saw two of my back four draw red cards. The second match saw two more from the back line red carded. :eek: I was so short of bodies, for match #3, I was forced to put 3 keepers out on the pitch, surprisingly they did a credible job.

Of course you can get away with that in the Brazilian 3rd division.

Not going to try it again. Ended up going to work still p****d. Not clever.
