Well I can see why Huddersfield were forced to go for a manager struggling in the Conference National (albeit one who got exposure beating 2 league clubs) as I found a small squad with high wages, and I couldn't save them from relegation to League Two. Havant got relegated too.

Season 07/08

I spent the summer trying to ship out all the players earning £1000+ a week, and succeeded in all but 2 cases, a right winger and a Huddersfield legend, past his best. I rebuilt the squad, and 9 of my first 11 were my signings.

The first quarter of the season was spent around mid-table, and this didn't please the players, but we got better as the season went on and the team gelled, and we almost, ALMOST got that last automatic place, only to miss out on goal difference.

I continued my poor playoff performance and lost 2-0 in the semi, both goals coming in the away leg.

Even though I had improved the squad considerably, the board wanted me to win the league and were not best pleased, so I couldn't refuse the Crewe job, as, even though they had just been releagetd to league One, they still boasted a hefty bank balance and I just could resist the chance to replace the retired Dario Gradi. Oh well.

Summary:

League Two - 4th, Played 46, Won 21, Drawn 16, Lost 9 - 79 points
Playoffs - Lost 2-0 to Lincoln in the Semis
FA Cup - Lost 1-0 at Northampton (L2) in the 1st Round
League Cup - Lost 1-0 at home to Portsmouth (Prem) in Round 2

Season 08/09

I came in, lowered the wage bill, and got Crewe back where they deserved. Gravy.

I also did the lower league double. :cool:

FA Cup - Lost 2-1 at home to Bradford (L2) in round One.
League Cup - Lost 2-0 at home to Portsmouth (Prem) in round Two. (Again.)

Beat Brighton 2-0 in the final. Beat old club Huddersfield on the way there, and an unexpected 9-1 aggregate win over Hull in the northern final.

Season 09/10

Got 1 or 2 quality players, and defied the critics by stealing a promotion place at the end of the season after lingering around 6th for most of the year.

On a side note, the run-in was fabulously tense, especially the last day, where any 2 of the top 3 could have got the top 2 places.

Championship - 2nd - Played 46, Won 26, Drew 9, Lost 11 - 87 Points
FA Cup - Lost 4-0 away to Wolves (Prem) in Round 5.
League Cup - lost 1-0 away to Blackburn (Prem) in the Quarter Final.

Season 10/11 so far - the Premier League is very hard.
