Simple answer: Because you don't know how this player might turn out in FM. He might even be a DR in the game.
As you will remember if you have read the guidelines, RL knowledge is not appliable when playing LLM.
Your sources to get the players are:
1.- Via scouting.
2.- Via in-game news-> scouting.
3.- Via in-game awards-> scouting.
4.- Players who have played against your lot at least 4 times.
Your game...Play it how ever you like. No one is forcing you to doing anything, let alone post or read said forum. If you feel comfortable with playing that way, go for it.
You're not really getting to grips with this LLM thing, eh?
Previous knowledge of a player has always meant real life or previous game. You know about him, you don't sign him...unless he's been recommended by your scout and you sign him based on that and not because he played well in a previous game or does so in real life.
Like Taips said, though...it's your game, but don't attempt to change the ethos in here, and don't tell us if you try to make the game easier.
danny, What you need is the "New" LLM forum at Eidos.
We are set in our ways here and almost every one of us here has begun on this forum by questioning certain aspects of LLM ethics.
We like them as they are now although each version of the game brings new challenges.

It just shows that I can't remember who is publishing the game now.
Call that patronising? I haven't begun to patronise you yet...(at least you didn't resort to the damned Yankee spelling of the word)
If you've read anything I've written about LLM you'll concede that when I mention realism I always have a proviso psesent "as realistic as the game allows"
Now, if you think it's realistic to bring a player you know about in real life into a "video game", then go ahead and do it.
It is your game. It is up to you to play it as you will.
However there are certain rules and guidelines we adhere to in here and we expect users to stick by them, it's not a lot to ask.
If you think that's patronising, frankly I don't give a ****. This place will be about long after you and I have gone.
