2004/05
No money but manage to recruit some free transfers and a couple of loan players to boost my squad. First half of the season goes win one, lose one but by halfway, we are mid-table. Got through two rounds of FA cup qualifying which brought in some much needed money but no transfer funds.
Form picked up in 2005 and towards the end of the season I am surprised to receive three job offers: Queen of the South, Lincoln and Hereford. Tempting but refuse them all and my players reward me by winning our last five matches without conceding a goal to finish 7th, two points away from a playoff place.
One huge mistake close season. I specify when training should cease and pre-season start but forget to take training away from my asst manager. Influential midfielder breaks his leg in training when he should be on holiday and is out for nine months!
AssMan does what the hell he wants when you holiday, blokes, and when you have him listed as taking care of training it eradicates any instructions you've given, like your training regimes, time off, time on...everything.
You either let him do the lot or do it all yourself...no happy medium.
