2005/06 season

Transfer budget is still zero and board expectations are a mid-table position. I expect to make the playoffs and after finishing 6th last season.

Early season form is patchy but I manage to pick up another half decent striker on a free to go with my other one. Second half of the the season form is pretty good and we finish 2nd, some points behind champions Worksop.

One of my half decent stikers is injured for most of the playoffs. We breeze past Gateshead 2-0 and 1-0 but other HD striker is injured after scoring the goals that take us through. We sneak a 1-0 win against Stafford Rangers after key midfielder scores his first of the season and young GK performs heroics.

HD strikers return for the final against Bath but we can't force a goal after going behind to a 20 yard screamer. We lose 1-0 and stay in the Conference North.

Have so far turned down about 10 job offers in two seasons, uncluding a tempting offer to manage a 2nd division Czech side.

2006/07

Transfer budget still zero, board and fan expectations are still for a safe mid-table finish. After finishing second, I want us to be champions...

My scout finds me a young left winger who's been released by a big club and I snap him up on a free. He turns out be great and our early season form is unusally good. By the start of 2007, we are second, about ten points behind Hucknall.

Our form becomes really solid and when we visit Hucknall in February we are only one point behind. We win 2-0 and I cannot resist a bit of after match gloating as we go top.

Young left winger is injured but we are unstoppable now as one of my strikers bangs in a record 30 goals in the season. We clinch promotion with two games still left.

Job offers have continued to roll in throughout the season, but I wasn't going to leave while we were in with a shout of being champions.

Look out Conference National, here come Bradford PA...
