I did that in 03/04, I mean the homegrown thing. It was feasible with large database.

With regards to FM, I would say it's doable with huge database, but you must be lucky. Although I seem to get some 10-12 players every season with good facilities, only one or two of them look as if they might make it to the first team.

Still I bet that having a youth academy might help on that no end.

2005/2006 - St. Albans - Conference South

Board and supporters expected a safe mid-table position, after last year's relative success.

Stayed all the season varying from 1st to 8th place, with the competition being easier than expected, but very competitive in the first spots.

Sold my goalkeeper and my right-back to L2 teams, which gave me the financial support to sign a good and promising D RL. Also helped finances a bit.

Lost a play-off spot in the last round, when a victory away to Tamworth would lead us to the 3rd position. The last-minute draw made us repeat last year's 8th position, and no promotion yet. Cups were ridiculous: two defeats is all we got.

Still no regens, scouts can't find any players (got 8 in my shortlist), but at least the players seem to have evolved from last season.

Expected safe mid-table again, hope we can put a stronger fight for promotion this year.

2006/2007 - St. Albans - Conference South

Expected to achieve mid-table again, I thought this was the year for a play-off spot push. No player was brought in and nobody left.]

By Christmas, we were leading Conference South, which was a little overachieving even in my way to see it.

Then, sky went dark and players went dumb. A series of eight games without winning took us to the 14th place, and a not comfortable at all league position. After a couple of wins, we got definetly to hell, managin to get 9 first-teamers injured (5 of which on 2 month +), and an astonishing 17 games without winning streak.

The two wins in the last games proved not to be enough, and we got relegated from Conference South in a year which was the most promising one.

Will probably try my luck in Italy next season, but will wait until someone approaches rather than applying for jobs...

I don't really like the spanish LL format. Will probably go there, though, if a Spanish team approaches me.

Could stay in England, also, but find it hard to be offered a job there.

Strange thing I only noticed now. After spending almost 3 years in St. Albans, I only have English (Basic) as language. :eek:
