Default Ethical Dilemma

I'm managing a Colombian side, who I have taken from second divsion, to first and onto Copa Libertadores success. I now want to move on to a bigger club. My problem is this:

I have two good young players (CB and CM) who I will want to sign to any new club I move to. Currently both have really low wages, fairly low buy out clauses compared to their true value and a reasonable length on their contract. Clearly I can take advantage of this situation when trying to sign them, but this would mean completely f***ing over my current club for their best two players.

So, do I give them new contracts and protect my current club, or do I leave them as they are and take advantage?

On a side issue has anyone had success in applying for jobs? I've applied for several in Brazil and not been offered one, despite the jobs then going to far less qualified managers.

I have in the past had no problem what so ever taking players with me to new clubs, maybe I have no loyalty to my old club, but football is all about success these days. I scouted, signed and nutured these players, I should have the right to try and buy them wehen I move on.

I wouldn't improve their contracts if I were you.

As for the managers jobs being unsuccessful, I'm sure one will pop up soon enough.

Good work with your current team.

Well, if you offer them something less than their min. fee release clause and they accept it, would that be OK? Answer that, and you have the answer to your question too.

At Barrow and Norwich, it took the boards 3-4 years to replace me. During this time they neither re-contracted or bought any players, which led to relegation and a bunch of grey players being trained by no-one.

The answer to your question is; what do you feel would happen in real life?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm still undecided but will probably leave the contracts alone. IRL managers would take advantage of any knowledge they had - look at Redknapp taking Soton players with him - and I guess that is the deciding factor.

I'm sure any AI manager would make a mess of what I have created (seen it happen before) but I like the idea of leaving my team in a dominant position when I change teams to one in a different country. Perhaps it is a bit of an ego thing that I want my team to carry on my legacy.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Don't name any managers or players please!

Sorry! Was a reallife example, rather than giving any game secrets away. But I understand - floodgates etc

Nothing wrong with naming managers, Stan, as long as they ain't still playing

Speaking of which (back on topic) look at Levein robbing Hearts blind of their best players at cut-down prices when he went to Leicester...b*st*rd!!!
