Yet again the board wanted Euro spot, and the fans wanted to challenge for the title.
Didn't bring in anybody this year apart from a backup goalie, as I felt the team was strong enough to challenge for the top. It was however a bit thin as usual, which hit me around March, as usual.
We never went below 3rd in the league, and were leading for a good part of the season. At Xmas we had a bad spell and lots a 7 point lead to Everton and Man Utd, to fall around 5 behind them. Everton fell off too around Easter. In the end United had a few undeserved losses, and I got back up to them. Turned out to be a very exciting end of the season. Both us and United could have decided it in the end, but we both drew to lesser teams, so come the last day of the season, we are tied, we lead on goal difference, and we meat United at the Lamb Ground! I only needed a draw, and to be honest I was lucky to get it, but we did win the league!!
Overall it was a marvellous season, and we could have taken it all home, with a thicker squad towards the end.
We won the league cup after a close 2-1 win against Tottenham.
Went out in the semis again in the FA Cup and Champions League. 0-3, 1-0 against United in CL, and 0-1 to Everton in FA Cup.
A very good season that could have truely gone into history. United later won Champions League, Everton won FA Cup. At least I went out to the winners.
The immensely talented striker played like a God this year. Think it's the best striker I've had in any incarnation of the game, including a certain overrated Irish player way back before my LLaMa days... Hold on to your jaws guys, the man scored...... 48 goals in 42 starts!!
He got injured the last month, that probably cost me at least the FA Cup.
Sorry for the long update, but it was a great season.
Getting in a few backups to strengthen me against injuries, and some youngsters that look fairly promising. Hopefully it will pay off next season as well.
It's getting tempting to move down the ladder again, but I'd like to stay a bit longer. Hard to leave such a promising team, and I would like to get the CL first too.
AFC Wimbledon got up and down this season. If they get back up after next season, I may leave for them. Time will tell.
Again, sorry for the long essay

Just a smallish summer update here.
Due to my 30yo starting striker next to God wanted a Ferrari or two a week, and he only had a year left on his contract, I decided to let him go. Didn't get his value as his contract was unprotected, but a nice load of cash nevertheless. Same happened to one of my old star strikers, a 26yo Finn (sp?).
Some of the youngsters I've brough in looks better than I remember. Think I'll give them a run in the cups.
I've also brought in a backup DMC, and trying to get rid of last year's backup DMC, but not a soul wants the guy, not even for nothing, in the Conference. That's bloody strange as the man is worth about 3M.. Oh well, brains aren't their strong side I guess
The fans have always wanted more than the board, strangely enough. This year board wants to challange for title, fans want the title. Period.
I reckon we'll be up there again, but only time holds the answers.

Thinking about starting a new game now
Would be a shame to let this game die, almost have a personal relationship to my players by now. But there've been popping up "array out of bounds" messages for a while now. The only problem I have found is that the Qual groups for Euro 12 are kinda missing. The games are being played, but the groups' tables are missing. I get 10-11 of those error message each time they pop up, so I'm guessing each is for a group.
The game may die out at some point, or it can possible get fixed once the Euro12 quals are over.
As this save only has English leagues selected I'm thinking about starting a new one with all the 'home nations', as you call it
Had a little look at Annagh United in Northern Ireland. It's tempting
Oh, and what database did you use on CM03/04?
I've got large on this one, but would it work fine with medium? Is it playable for proper LLM?
Always used large, but noticed it was much quicker with medium, so would like to try it out, as the game is pretty turtle-like by now.
What do you reckon I do?

I think large database is a must, but if your PC can't handle it...

I actually haven't bought FM yet, but probably will when 5.0.3 is out. Been happy with CM so far
Haven't tried a game on medium, so not sure how it is, would be a shame if it's unplayable after a while. Do you use huge on FM then? Doesn't that take forever?
Maybe a bit GQ, but aren't most players on medium loaded on your active league? I pretty much only sign players from the active league anyway, as scouts can't even find sh!t anywhere else.

Big hopes for the season, as did my fans and board. Fans want the title, board wants to fight for it.
Season started off like a trainwreck. Nothing worked, I didn't create chances, and hardly grabbed points. Didn't win untill game 9. Status after 10 league games: W1 D4 L5, placed 18th.
Then I went on a great 10-game winning streak, and was suddenly fighting for Europe. The great form continued for the rest of the season, and it ended up with a dogfight between ourselves and United. Once again the title was decided on the last day. We needed to beat Everton away.
After a stunning goal from my 20yo coming star, we won 1-0 and defended the title from last year.
We went fairly okayish through the CL group, and through a miracle away, beat Real Madrid in 2nd round. Forced off Rangers and Everton on our way to our first final, against United.
Didn't start well, and were down 2-0 at halftime. After 60mins still no improvements, a change of tactics see us go all-out-attacking. Nothing to lose anyway. We fought one back fairly early. 2 minutes on overtime we manage to nudge it past the line in a mess. Scenes of me jumping up and down can be seen......
I bring the tactics down to sain again for the extratime. One minute before half-time my mentioned 20yo steals a long ball in front of an overpaid star, advances on the keeper, and powers it into the back of the net. Me jumping up and down fisting the air again!
Would have been a great final to see
Premier Division: 1st W25 D7 L6 70-26 P82 (remember 1-5-4 after 10. Stunning!)
Champions League: Winner, Manchester United 3-2 on silver goal
FA Cup: 5th Rnd, Middlesbrough 0-1
League Cup, Winner, Manchester City 2-0
All in all a great season, and we finally nailed the Champions League. Was tempting to go down last season, but will stay on longer. Can't leave my youngsters alone. Crushed the transfer record on a DRC for £6.5M in January.
As a little sideshock. Stockport went out of Conference, and Convey Island got promoted to Second Division. Stoke survived in Third Division on goal difference. Middlesbrough won FA Cup, Newcastle won UEFA.
