I've sent my scout to go and take a look at players around England, but he's not coming back with ANYTHING. I am new to FM2008 and I'm still only a month or so into my first ever season. But I assumed it would work in the same way as in previous FM's. Do I need to wait longer for him to start coming back with results or am I doing something wrong?

Who are you managing and are you running the English league in full detail, view only or not at all?

Have you checked the scouts shortlists? (accessable from the scouting screen).

Scouts no longer report directly to you via the news on every player they recommend but build up a short list of recommended players for you to look at whenever you want. When he's finished the assignment you'll get a news item about it and the scout may pick out a few highly recommended players here for you to look at.

If you have checked his shortlist and still have no players then it's probably down to:

A - You just haven't given him enough time to find any players.

B - You're managing in a country other than England and don't have the English leagues active in either a playable or a view only capacity. If this is the case then the fixtures for that league are not fully simulated so the players do not play any games to be scouted in.
