Regarding tactics as a "newbie" is there any one tactic that will get me through a season am just starting off my very first game as manager of Hartlepool. Have looked through standard tactics and opted for 5-3-2 attacking with normal width etc... As I thought this would give me the best option of attack with a strong midfield and a good defensive line

Best to have a quick read of the forum rules because asking for tacics is frowned upon- so before this gets closed have a read of this, especially the first post and the Unofficial Tacics Bible thread with a link at the top of the forum. These will help you to design your own or go to the FM Downloads site (link also at the top ) and download one of the more successful tactics from there.

Personally, I like crazy gra's 4-2-2-2 and Buxton's Venom 4-4-2. You can try having a look at those tactics, though sadly neither of them use a 5-3-2 formation.
