The reason I ask is because ive got them next and I have never played them before. I am Liverpool and will probably go for a 4-4-2 against Chelsea. Has anyone had great success over them? What did you do and who do you watch in particular? They have so many great players!

Good luck!
You'll need that if you want to get away with all 3 points. Might help you if you play them at Anfield though.
Some things I've experienced when playing Liverpool vs Chelsea:
1) Drogba + Schev' = dynamite (doh!) But the thing to watch out for is Drogba pulling out wide and beating the full back. Very dangerous. I would definately put Carra as right back (Drogba often lines up as the left forward)
2) They play a 4-1-3-2 as default, which means their central midfield is very very strong. The midfielders will try to press you hard to claim the ball back high up the pitch. Dangerous. You might want to play down the flanks to counter this.
3) They play quite wide, and their full backs often look to support the attack. I have had some success man marking their full backs. In fact, the most successfull tactic against Chelsea for me has been 433's with the outer forwards/wingers man marking the opposing full backs + passing down the flanks.
4) Be vary of set pieces. They have some very strong players to finish of those situations, like Drogba, Ballack, Lampard, Terry etc. Dangerous.
Good luck!

Home or away?? As Man Utd, they can be had if you are at home by playing a attacking high tempo direct style, which I suspect would work for L'pool too. Away, to be honest, I have no idea. At Stamford Bridge is the only game I simply cannot get the tactics right for.

i'm just going into my second season, having played Chelsea 3 times in the first season, i've found the best tactic to work against them is a 4-3-3, have all the 3 midfielders and strikers playing tightly, with the 3 mid's with farrows. Worked for me with Liverpool - 2-0, 1-0, 2-1

as Man Utd, at home I played an attacking 4-4-2, with a high tempo and direct passing. I set the teams width to 'wide'. I found that Chelsea's system (4-1-3-2) is very narrow and easy to stretch.
for opposition instructions, I closed down all the midfielders with hard tackling, but set the closing down on the back 4 to 'never'. it lets the defenders pass it but once it moves into midfield, your team closes it down very quickly.
Away I played 4-1-4-1, with Rooney as a lone striker, coming deep into midfield. once again, direct passing, but slower tempo and more defensive. I found that my wide players often got 1-1 against their full backs, and I put Ronaldo against Ferreira, which worked very well. same opposition instructions as at home.
The key is to stretch the play, it disjoints their midfield, and to expose their full backs. good luck

i would say i have a 60% ratio against chelsea, i play no DM, its sort of a 4-1-3-2 formation but the 1 being a CM and attacking mentality home or away, i think aswell if your team talk says, DO THIS FOR SUPPORTERS at home then you have a better chance against chelsea for some reason, anyway,
