It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Success at Last! Thanks Cleon!

After countless failed attempts as Burnley (I got the game the week it came out and had not managed to finish higher than 9th only ever completing 2 seasons, simply due to the stress the game caused!), I decided to start a new game optimistic with the vast amount of knowledge I had gleened from Cleon's Sheffield Utd project thread.

I started as unemployed as I simply couldn't cope with another seasons struggle with my beloved clarets and I could never have forgiven myself if I'd had played as United or Chelsea and thought unemployed had a nice realistic edge to it. At the begining of december I was given job at Bristol Rovers who were then placed 16th in the table and had been knocked out of the league cup and fa cup. Heres how I got on-

League Table -

League Progress -

Manager Screen -

Although it may not seem such an achievement to win the JPT and finish 2nd to many of you hardcore fm players. Especially with Bristol Rovers being quite a decent side with some good players but this is the first time I managed to achieve anything on this version of the game and am therefore very proud of myself lol. I'd like to thank cleon for his sheffield utd project thread as it totally changed the way I went about the game with as you can see vast improvements. If anyone is still struggling with the game and haven't checked the thread out yet they definatly should!

I have scrolled through Cleon's thread once, but thanks to you I'm actually gonna read it, thnx mate!
Even though I won't change my own tactic, hehe, superb 4-3-3, attacking, creative, really great...but I still wanna know how he did it then...

Cheers, R.

A little update in my 2nd season only played 8 games but am top of the league won 5 drawn 1 lost 1 so still goin well! yeah i didnt really either Maveroxxx lol im too set in my ways i like 442 with my wingers pushed up, whereas he plays 442 diamond. From cleons thread i pretty much used the same individual player settings for mentality as him (except i have my wingers more attackin n my am less attackin cos of my formation but i used the same idea of keepin the mentalities similar). i think thats massively helped my team defend better as a unit. Probably the most important thing i think i picked up though was about tactic tweaking both before a game n after. esp. in game i suppose cos i never used to watch matches whereas i tend to now n i can usually spot whats goin wrong if ive set up wrong. I dont think anyone should just copy what he's done but i do think theres alot of really good info on that thread well it really helped me anyway!

ok i think this should work,

http://fmdownloads.net//index.php?di...Tactics/4-4-2&

its saved as 442 connells a

Its just a template really every game I change team mentality, passing (length and pace) and defensive line depending on the scout reports, Sometimes i put barrows on the full backs if they play 433 or switch to 424 late in the game, i sometimes set passing to down the wings aswell if i think their formation looks abit narrow. I really do recommend you watch the game on full until ur comfortable that ur gonna win tbh i get the tactics wrong at the start quite often n have to change things around! even so i only ever change team mentality/passing/barrows on full backs. If ur not sure on tactic tweakin i recommend u have a look at cleons sheff utd project post.

In the midfield the right one is the DM and the left one is the AM.

Up front I dont use a target man per se but the one on the left comes deep to get the ball in a Rooney role i think good stats for this position are first touch, passing, creativity, off ball, composure, finishing, strength and long shots. The other striker is the main one i tend to either play some one whose quick or good in the air either is good but in the first season i played walker there n he got 29 goals many from headers so maybe that shud be first choice with a pacy striker on the bench if things arent workin.

Anyway if anyone fancies trying this out good luck n i'd love some feed back on it!

2 things I want to ask:

How the heck did you get that 'Past Postiions' function on your FM, as for the life of it I can't find it. Secondly, the tactic download doesn't work. It downloads as an index.htm file, which I then rename to a .tac file, but it still doesnt work.

Thanks in advance.
