Default one up front

has anybody had any real success playing with one striker alone up front? im a big fan of mourinho's 433 and the spanish 4231 but have failed miserably in replicated them!

it would also be quite nice to get a moyes style 4411 going with timmy cahill in the hole.

if anyone has had any success with one up can you outline the tactic as a whole and the lone mans individual instructions

What problems are you having? Ive played 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-1-1, never had a problem.

i just find that when i play one up front he seems isolated. i think that you need to have a really class AM or Wingers to get these formation to work.

have you got any tips for setting him up?

I hate one up front. I have always played
3-1-3-3 narrow with long long ball through the middle and the centre striker set as a target man. Works spot on for me

Do you know how to to upload tactics? If you do or if someone else could tell me I could upload it for you. Its a formation with one up front that I really had a lot of success with.

Thats pretty obvious. No-one is gonna cut it alone. If a striker doesnt have another good striker around him, he'll have to rely on good midfield support to get him the ball. If your midfielders cant move up the pitch to deliver the ball, your striker is indeed pretty isolated.

I don’t think a team should need really class wingers in order for your lone man to receive adequate support – technically you should be able to tell your players to support him at every opportunity (i.e. high mentality – farrows etc) but even with these he still seems some what isolated

I don’t think 4231’s should are restricted to the top 4 clubs in England – that’s the beauty of the challenge in FM – getting your team to play in a particular style without the Drogba’s and Lampards covering up for tactical inadequacies
