Hi!

It seems that a lot of people are struggling with scoring goals, but somehow my At.Madrid side managed to score 88 goals in 38 league games.

My strikers were scoring even from 1-on-1's at an acceptable rate. And I really can't tell why.

I used a quick tempo and partly direct passing tactic, which is usually blamed for being the reason for the low amount of goals scored from high amount of shots. (I'd say I averaged around 15 shots per game.)

So, here are the tactics and players I used. Take a look, try them out, and tell me what you think made them successful:

I think you scored all those goals for the following reasons:

1. Aguero
2. Laquinta
3. Riquelme
4. Reyes
5. Rodriguez

well.. i scored 93 goals in 38 premier league games and i have not counted the number of goals scored in cup matches. You have a very strong attacking force and there is no big surprise that you can score so many goals

You scored just over 2 goals a game using a team filled with offensive play makers. When your defensive midfielders are riquelme and banega you're probably going to score gaols. I think a fair amount of people are able to score at that kind of a pace when they are willing to concede like a mid table team does. Congratulations on your champions league finish though.

People are complaining that their 'worldclass' strikers are missing a lot of 1-on-1's and easy chances and that was also the case in my first season when I was using a more 'patient' tactic. I didn't have Riquelme and Iaquinta then, so that could indeed be the case, but I'd like to think there's more to it.

I'd say neither. These tactics got me dropped out of CL in qualification against Rosenborg and out of UEFA CUp in the first playoff round. So, they are not 'supertactics'.

But they scored me a lot of goals in the spanish league, even against stronger teams.

Quality players + right position + right individual settings = good results.

There's alot of great player made tactics on the forums here. My own preference is Fiora2 at the moment. With ANY tactics or formations, it's vital that you have the right players to suit them, and tweeks for individual settings.

I think a problem these days with FM's "depth" is that many people just don't have the patience to tinker with the tactics. I also believe you can tweek too much.

I have stuck with the same core tactics and formation thus far, only making minor changes to suit the attributes of substitutes for example.
