Season 2007/08: A time for moving out
As you probably remember from last year, all players wanted improved deals that we couldn't match. As a side result from the renewing/selling madness that was our first part of the season, we found ourselves 15th when January came in.
We had sold 7 of our last season first teamers and we were kinda slumping down with the new bunch.
However, a slight redefining of our priorities (via new tactic) saw us reach our beloved 03/04 efficiency (in terms of we getting ripped by the other team but managing to scrape an undeserved draw or win). \o/
A 17 matches unbeaten run (10 of whom were tied matches) saw us climb until the 6th spot of the Conference National Table. This run attracted some interest by managerless League 2 side Swindon Town, who dutily asked about my availability.
Feeling that I had taken the Blues as high as they realistically could get, I was lured by the mermaids' chants and decided to pack my luggage and join
Swindon.
Bishop's Storford's stats:
Days at helm: 1337.
Titles won: 1 (Conference South 04/05).
Awards won: 1 (January 08 Manager of the month).
Players Bought: 18 for 0 GBP.

Players Sold: 14 for 195k GBP.

Swindon were 10th in League 2 at matchday 38, but only 6 points behind leaders Wrexham (Had I noticed that before jumping I would have perhaps stayed with the Blues).
5k /week over budget. 5 decent players in the whole team (a keeper, a defender, a brazilian playmaker, a winger and an excellent striker).
As the winger was the highest earner and already had teams following him, I unloaded him for 1m GBP to some Championship team and signed the regen AMC from my previous team.
The incoming cash made the board stop whinging about the budget thing and with the barebone of a team I started my adventure on League 2.
The Swindon players adapted quickly to my ultradefensive tactic as the P8 W6 D1 L1 GF14 GA6 record would suggest and as a result we ended 2nd behind Wrexham due to goal average. So back to League One after one year at a lower level for the Swindon fans.
Sorry for the long update. :o
