I'm slowly but steadily starting to lean towards Humph's opinion about updates... Too many of them started in the recent months, very few actually lasted over a season or two.

Even though I have an update in season 2012-13, I'm leaning this way too. The regulars who post decent updates have another place where they can do it.

Totally agree. I've just ended up skim reading them, other than the few that are (unsurprisingly) by the regular posters.

Personally, I'd like a rule that you can't post an update until you've completed 5 seasons, which would obliterate all the "I've played 2 friendlies..." junk.

I appreciate that this is harsh upon those who take 2 months over 1 season but I cannot remember what happened to your team, that long ago; so it's not an update if I have to re-read the entire thread! Also could people re-iterate in each post where they manage. After a couple of ship jumps, it's often obfuscated unless you read it all over again.

Actually, ban them all. Take the forum back!

Anyways now it's turning into a rather interesting discussion.

Though i'm not a regular and even i tried to handle my own update thread (and me hopes with patch it will be resumed), i have to agree: the quality/quantity ratio of updates threads is very low. Pity.

I like the updates because the n00bs feel on safe ground posting in LLM with an update first (obviously, the feeling doesn't last long!)

Most of them are utter tripe, but that's the price you pay. No-one makes you read them.

Although putting a 2 seasons completed minimum before your first post in your update thread would surely unclog the forum a bit, wouldn't it? (I'm referring to all those threads we have now about someone making some two or three posts about the team they chose and later even forgetting they started to post it).
