When I was managing Redbridge I tried to get as far as possible in the FA Cup. The FA Trophy I didn't care about, but most of the times I realized it was a cupfixture until the game already started :o Then I tried to get the live league table and the button wasn't there
Now that I'm playing higher in the leagues I take every cuptie as serious as a league fixture. Every win means extra income and (most of the time) the leaguegames don't seem to suffer under a good cuprun.

| Yes, but it isn't very realistic that if you had a team capable of winning 20 consecutive FA Trophies it wouldn't manage to stumble up a division. :p |

What I do hate about the Carling Cup is the extra time in case of a draw :p Then my players get too tired and since the cup is always played midweeks (exept the final) it does work on to the leaguegame afterwards.

Realistically, any manager would take promotion over an FA Trophy.
However, also realistically, many of the lower league teams know they have no hope of promotion, and if they got it it may bankrupt the club. In these cases, any cup run is beneficial to bring in extra cash.
I always start in the cups with my best squad, on the basis that, if I am not going to be promoted, I will need the money.

I don't bother too much with FA trophy, but FA Cup I put my strongest team out. With some nice draws managed to get my side to 3rd round, where we went out at Spurs. The £440k we made from the run made it more than worthwhile :p. Like someone said, I reckon you got to decide for yourself depending on your team's circumstances, just like any manager would - and the luck of the draw will have a lot to do with that |

Hello
There are two types of cups: those who suck and those who don't. I obviously don't give a damn about the latter, but i'll do anything to progress in the "good" cups - even sacrifice a couple of league games.

Cups don't suck arse per sé, I just suck at winning them, so thereofre, cups suck arse .
That said, I always give the best effort I can to win them. As an LLM, the prospects of possible revenue make them impossible for me not to take seriously. Still, you have to weigh out the squad when congestion starts to happen.

My priority is always to go for promotion, as is every Club's.
I will never compromise my chances at promotion by fielding a first team squad at the risk of them injuring themselves or being knackered for the next game...there may be some first team players, but unless I'm in a replay that will result in an away tie against a really big team or we have at least 7 days before the next game then it'll be reserves and youth players that play cup games.
I never try to throw games, I just place the utmost importance on League games.
If you think that's unrealistic, feckin' bite me! Cups suck ass!!! Period.
