I should add that if you do a UK&Ireland search and want scouts to consider looking at players from all divisions they will generally only find players from non-league and league 2. There will be a few league 1 players, but hardly any from higher divisions. This denies me the opportunity to find squad players from bigger clubs who might join me on loan.

To re-iterate a previous point you can use the loan option on the filter but this is AFTER the scout has done his work. Same applies to transfer listed players.

So I would like to add:

6/ the scout will find players matching attributes you have specified regardless of the division they are in (the unrealistic filter could then be applied to get rid of players who would never join you in a million years - but may leave some youngsters/reserve players from bigger clubs)

Stats are not always a guide to how well the player will perform for a team. Some of the players with the worst stats I have ever seen have actually made my team improve

As usual, I've thought of something else:

7 - Whilst not the main requirement Current/Potential Ability can still have a function in scout reports. You ask the scout to look for a left winger with good crossing and dribbling. After a week or two he comes back with two players, both with crossing/dribbling 15 and in their mid 20's. The scout says: "Player A has probably reached his peak". "Player B - is likely to improve with appropriate training". This means that potential can be a determining factor in choosing between two players of similar attributes.

Shame to see this thread slipping down the list. The topic of scouting really ought to be pinned as I believe that having it work as realistically as possible is vital to the LLM philosophy.

I'm with you on most points. I do however, like to purchase players based on potential as I find the mature quicker when thrust in to the first team at a young age. I have found some of my best players this way. This has consistantly been a revenue making exercise for my LL teams. It is also fair to say that I have found some of my worst players this way!

I agree that the scouting system requires a substantial overhaul and should be sorted to make it realistic.
