2004-05 Queen's Park
I decided to go Scottish as so many times before, but this time around I decide I don't need the grief of not having a stadium that's big enough for SPL. So as you can probably guess I go for Queen's Park.
At the start of the season I have 53!! players so I look through them and transferlist 33 and wait to see what happens. I send the scout out and hire an ass. Manager through the personal adds (appearently in some german paper). Scout comes back with 2 free transfers I like, so I sign them (one of them appearantly a superstar who wants £140 p/w.)
Goal for the first season is of course promotion though the bookies have me at 3-1 with 5 other teams at evens or better. The board and fans aren't impressed, expecting a safe mid-table position and rebuilding the squad respectively. But perhaps a good cup-run in one of the 3 cups will be possible.
After a bad start we start picking up points here and there until we loose 5-0 to peterhead in mid-november. This brings the morale down and we only get 5 points in the next 7 games leaving us in 9th at christmas. So I decide to bring in reinforcements and buy two defenders and a right wing for a grand total of £2.000. It doesn't help much, the opposition keeps scoring at will, and for home-games the crowd usually only stays for 60 minutes. Also my top striker brakes his skull(6 months out), so I stop scoring goals alltogether. I get 4 votes of confidence during a loosing streak in january/february, until I finally win a game on 12th march. Still I'm surprised they don't fire me, so when Lincoln approaches me I accept.
Record with Queen's Park (256 days) :
League: Pos:#9 P29 6W 5D 18L 31-47 23p
Challenge Cup: Defeat in 2.rd away at Airdire(D1) 3-0
League Cup: Defeat in 1.rd at home to East Fife(D3) 1-1p (we score 0 goals on 4 penalties)
Fa Cup: Defeat in 3.rd away at Ross County(D1) 6-1 (no comments)
Lincoln are 21st in League 2 when I take over 3 points clear of the drop and with 7 matches to go. The promised transfer funds and wage budget is'nt there, but I'm not surprised . I'll try to stay clear of relegation with the players I have, and hopefully sell off a few in the summer break.
In other news : Aston Villa are playing Huddersfield in the FA Cup Final?!? (Villa won it, but somehow Huddersfield got a spot in the UEFA cup.. madness)
We end the season in 20th position playing 2W 4D 1L 11-8
This is my first post here so I apologize in advance for any rules I may have broken.
One word of advice. Use a spellchecker and structure your sentences a bit more clearly. That way, my software can read your text better and I can then understand your updates more easily.
2005-06 Lincoln City (League 2)
The season starts with a sacking/selling of players and also I need an extra striker and a few defenders (or one if I can't find any better than the ones on my shortlist now) and a new second keeper since the Canadian one I've got surprisingly didn't get a new work permit So I buy a striker and defender in Cowdenbeath and a keeper from Motherwell. Tired of dragging scotsmen over the border I start looking for a native for my second defender. All told it's £3K for the three, and I release and sell 14 players and earn £3K, so I still have my £9K transfer budget intact should I need any players midseason.
My goal is to improve on last years position as #20, but given the form we ended the campaign in last year I'm optimistic and set my sight on the upper half of the board. The board is saying i should rebuild the squad, and I intend to... still hoping to win a few games along the way though. (bookies odds : 1-50)
I have a horrible start to the season, but after a lot of tweaking I start to win games. I'm still in the relegation zone at Christmas. All told it's a bit depressive to get beaten repeatedly by teams like Aldershot. Around March I realize that I suck at this game, but I decide to keep playing anyway. Well with one game to go we finally get relegated, so now I'm looking forward to playing som non-league football (If I'm not fired before that).

Tough season! You will be alright in the Conference as long as you accept that you may not bounce straight back up. The gap between Conference and League 2 is not huge. If you still have a job use the conference to hone your tactical skills. The results will come, whatever you do, don't sell out and start a new game with a big club with large transfer funds.
