Ooh! Bully for you![/handbag]

Many ex-EPL players in those rounds?

Funnily enough plenty of former decent players are now beer-bellied veterans trudging round the midfield, but there is no one that springs to mind that is worth naming on this forum

An awful lot of ex-Premiership youth players do end up in the 'non-league world' As long as the player is clearly not wanted by the big club (ie: they are transfer listed/free transfered) why not sign them - especially if they are willing to earn the pittence we can pay them. Big premiership clubs offer whole squads of teenagers YTS and full time contracts only to drop then before they reach 21. They do not develop into the players the clubs thought they had the potential to become. Even lowly Newport IW has had ex-premiership youths in their squad. There was an English schoolboy's captain who didn't even become a professional and went on trial at Newport (a friend of mine was having his trial on the same day) he said his skills were amazing - in the end the guy went to Loughborough Uni, but he could have signed for a (then) Doc Martyns league team.
And does AFC 'no not that team again' Wimbledon not have an ex-Chelsea player?

Well, Wimbledon are not the average lower league club, so you can't really use them as an example. I know where you're coming from though.

Nah, good discussion.

Stated with me and the Russki Andy taking a bit of flack but the consensus seems to be that it's perfectly common for Conf N/S sides to have cr4p ex-EPL youths in their ranks.

I have my own little "ethic" I use when looking at players from higher divisions, this applies to loans only as I've never tried buying EPL players.I try to make realistic loans,E.G I'm playing as Droylsden,so any loan signings must be from Northern clubs and preferably from the North West as younger players wouldn't have to move too far(City,The rags,Bolton,Scouse teams Etc),definatly no loans from southern clubs. This might become a tad difficult if I ever manage in a country where I dont have a geographic clue, but it works for me.

I do exactly the same thing figs. Now I'm managing East Stirlingshire I only look to loan from clubs in the same county. For ten quid a week they're not going to travel far!

It better be ok otherwise my Eastbourne side is in even worse trouble then it actually is.

I have 2, both were found by my scout and both are going to get no where near their clubs first teams. I don't see the problem.
