I was just looking at the information sheet of AFC Wimbledon, and to my shocking surprise found that it was sponsored by SI...

I go to their website
and find out that indeed, it is true...
It was a pleasant surprise.

Does anyone know why this team was chosen?

There was a lot of publicity about the split from MK Dons, so why not. I guess they are quite local to SI towers.

Yep, this is the reason AFC Wimbledon have facepacks and information, and I believe that they get promoted to Conference North/South after the first season. (They did in FM07)
