Default Is there any way to speed things up when managing a country?

I'm having a go at managing England, and in between playing Euro qualifiers and the odd friendly match, there is a huge amount of selecting continue and waiting. Is there any way of speeding things up? It's not like I need to know every result from the Premiership and all domestic and European cups. If there isn't a way around this then has anything changed in 08 on the PC? I feel I could really enjoy the international scene with lots of different nations if this problem was fixed.

Having said that, I suppose it would help to just choose one league from one nation (like the English Premiership) if being an international manager, to speed up the processing. Is that what everyone else does?
