It takes forever to get through pre-season because some of the modules in the game are so unnecessarily complex. My main three annoyances are friendlys, coaches and loans.

Friendlys:

I have no idea why teams are rejecting my proposals. Do they want more money? Is the date not compatible? I spend 5 minutes finding teams to make some preseason money only to find them all rejected. Then I have to go through the painful process again and find new teams. I won't even start on the national tours or cups. Those take even longer to setup and have lower chance of it being accepted.

Possible Improvements:

After I pick a team for a friendly, display the dates they will accept and for each date, display the minimum money expected.

Coaches:

Why are the training stars based on such complicated structures? For example, set pieces is based on technique, mental and attacking. To find a 7 star training, I first have to find the guide telling me all of these algorithms. Then I have to use all of these filters to find the right coaches.

Possible Improvements:

Coaches have the following stat: Strength, Aerobic, GK, Tactics, Ball Control, Defending, Attacking, Shooting, Set Pieces. These correspond to the training sections. Instead of the star system, just use the 1-20 rating to indicate how good the coach is at that particular task.

Loans:

I want to loan out my players to avoid rotting away in the reserves. This is especially true for reserve teams that have no matches. To do this, I have to go each individual player and click on offer to clubs. Then I set the options such as cup eligibility and recall. However, teams interested never seem to listen to my options. So I've forced to spend the time renegotiate the options and they always seem to accept at the end.

Possible Improvements:

When I set the options, teams should bid with those options set. There should also be much higher interest from AI in terms of loans. I shouldn't have to offer to club to increase interest. Most of the time, I'm willing to pay the wage so there should be tons of teams interested. It's a free player for them.


SI, please improve these modules, if possibly in the patch. They make the game feel like a chore and take the fun out of preseason.

jeez... it's not exactly THAT complicated - the manual even tells you which attributes contribute to which star ratings!

There is certainly room for improvement with regards to friendlies. I personally think the board should be alot more involved in arranging matches, setting up annual pre-season cups/tournaments and world tours to boost fanbase and income through merchandising etc.. like irl.

Friendlies are a pain in the backside. Even with a top club it's difficult getting anyone to accept a friendly. I ended up having to play my bloody reserve team just to get my team match fit.

You shouldn't need the manual to explain things that should already be clear in the game.

i agree that the friendly system could do with being improved, but if you REALLY can't get anyone to accept, just get your asst manager to arrange friendlies for you.

Besides having to find the manual every season, the current system also forces the player to use multiple filters to find a coach. More importantly, it doesn't add anything to the game. Why not just keep it simple?
