What's the point?
| well if you're going to take it to that extreme, why even HAVE a manual?
the point of the manual is to explain some things which AREN'T made obvious in the game.
to be honest - i'd've preferred that this (and a few other things) WEREN'T laid out "on a plate" for you... some things you SHOULD have to find out for yourself... it's called improving and getting good at the game.

| Shouldn't have to. In modern football the board has a huge say in pre-season preperation. Take Man Utd for example- I dont think Alex Ferguson will have been overjoyed to take his players all the way to Asia or South Africa to play local opposition when they could have stayed home and prepared without jet lag etc... The board know the marketing potential of these trips and most big European clubs are following suit.
Surely you must agree pre-season is an area that needs to be improved?

| while i do agree that the friendly system needs some work, THAT'S not what you said in the comment i was responding to...
you said you have to play against your reserves just to get your players fit... i was just pointing out that this isn't really the case.

Friendlys:
I have no idea why teams are rejecting my proposals. Do they want more money? Is the date not compatible? I spend 5 minutes finding teams to make some preseason money only to find them all rejected. Then I have to go through the painful process again and find new teams. I won't even start on the national tours or cups. Those take even longer to setup and have lower chance of it being accepted.
Possible Improvements:
After I pick a team for a friendly, display the dates they will accept and for each date, display the minimum money expected.
| You can do this.
When you're creating friendlies choose the team you want to play against first. Some dates will then be greyed out and these are the dates that either your team or their team are unavilable.
Look to select a date that's not too close to an unavailable date as this is probably when the other team is already playing another friendly.
Also set up your friendlies as soon into pre-season as you can. If you wait and do it after all the other teams have arranged theirs you'll have fewer dates to play with.
Good points for the other two bits though.

I'm aware that I can get my assistant to arrange friendlies, but that's besides the point, I want to decide who I play.

Yes it needs to be improved, but ticking the assistant box has the same effect as what you've asked for - someone else handles it. Whether that's the assistant or the board, the effect is largely the same.

| If you play away, or set up tours, then I've never experienced a problem setting up friendlies.
If you want to play home games you have to give a financial incentive to the teams you want to play. Again, I've had no problems doing this either.

I guess I'm a cheap bastard that does not want to pay the other team for a home friendly. I usually choose the the 10% or 20% option and hope for the best. I'd be a lot easier if the team just told me how much they want for them to accept.
