My last 6 games have all ended up with the opposition goalkeeper having a blinder and winning the MOTM award.
How can this be??
Every now and again fair enough, but 6 on the bounce?
It’s meant I’ve drawn 4 games 0-0, lost one 1-0 and drawn 1-1 in the other, even though I’m absolutely battering teams and averaging 10-15 shots on target every single game (more in some cases).

I can’t work out why though. I have my forwards and attackers set to ‘rare’ for long shots to minimise the less effective long range punts.

I have all my strikers on a specialized training programme, concentrating on attacking and shooting.

My forwards are naff either, I’m playing as Liverpool so I have Torres, Gerrard, Babel, Crouch, Kuyt etc all getting half a dozen shots on target a game, but no goals from them. This includes loads of missed one on ones.

I can’t think that confidence would be a problem as before this run all my forwards had got on the scoresheet for the season and I was unbeaten in 2nd place in the league.

The worst thing is one of the keepers that got star man and kept me at bay was Paul Robinson, so it’s not even as though is like real life!

Has anybody got any suggestions how this can be happening and how to start getting my attackers scoring again?

I manage Chelsea and have a similar situation with MOM award going to opposition GK regardless of how good he is.

This is how SI counters "super tactics" , making AI goalie a superman and AI midfielders scoring from 50 meters.

Ooooo, I have ‘Super Tactics’ !
I’m liking that. :cool:

However I’m not liking the fact I can’t score and now down to 5th in the table.
Does anybody know if there’s anything I can do about it with just tweaking something slightly or do I have to make more significant changes to my tactic?

Have not noticed that tbh, but that's because i constantly tweak and adjust my tactic throughout the game to counter the AI. When they go 4-2-4, i change something else depending on what players are on the pitch. When they turtle up, i tweak something to crank them open. I have met super keepers, but can usually scrape a 1-0 win.

Infact, I'm having so much success and consistency with FM 2008, in all versions so far (retail, beta patch 1, patch 2), I'm in the process of writing a document for the Tactics forum. But just to give some of you hope, try changing your tactics and you might find some success. I honestly don't believe the AI "cheats" unless you do it first by employing some kind of orthodox Diablo-type tactic.

Try playing a little more conservatively. It sounds crazy but the keeper is more liable to have a blinder if the defence's back is against the wall. Also ensure that the strikers' long shots are set to rarely. I think it builds the gk's confidence if they save a few early long shots.

in fact if their keeper gets a couple of good saves he is likely to raise his game and becomes unbeatable....infact this is not a new problem it is associated with previous FMs too.

Some striker misses are simply embarassing. Often the goalkeeper saves a shot on the right side of his goal and the ball falls to my strikers feet on the left side and instead of sliding it into the empty net he blasts it and hits the goalkeeper at the other post.

Cheers, I will try not setting the attacking bar as high and see if that works.

It's not just me who's getting frustrated either by the looks of things, Torres got sent off last game for punching someone!
