I've checked with editors and noticed that a serious injury can reduce PA - which is fair enough, but when the player returns his PA sometimes increases.

Logically, it shouldn't - but it damn well does!

you are sure??? I have never read it, I was sure that PA was unchangeable but with editors.
There really shouldn't be a change in PA once the game has started.
The only way it would differ is if the player had a preset PA of -10, etc.
-10 equates to a random PA of between 180-200. So obviously you have a ±10 range either way there.
The PA at start of a new game is set in a range signified by the -10, -9 figure etc, so can be marginally different every time you start a new game.
Once the game starts, PA is set and cant change, except in exceptional circumstances of a very serious, long term injury which can reduce PA. PA will never go up in a game.
I've always hated that the potential ability is set is stone from the beginning to the end of a player's career. That's for people who believe in fate.
There have been too many players who have had say 150 ability and 160 for potential and reached their potential at the age of 21 and never improve beyond that!
I'd prefer a talent/learning capacity stat out of 20, which means that with the right coaching the player can become world class / premiership class / championship class etc. The potential stat needs to be more blurry than it is.
