Default planning permission for ground improvements

has anyone else had planning permission refused for stadium improvements?

Is there a chance I could still have a whole new stadium built, or am I stuck forever in a 3000 capacity ground in league 1?

Chelmsford local council need to show more support for their football team.

I've just took over Tottenham in 2019, still at their old 35,000 capacity ground. I've applied to get it extended, but been refused planning permission. They've not built a new stadium in the 12 years since the game began, so it looks highly unlikely. The money is there to be spent, but no change.

Depends if your team is constantly selling out the stadium, but the other issue is Finance aswell. You'll more than likely be granted the request if you're in the Championship and not dropping or make it to the premier league.

It's nothing to do with finance or crowds. The board already agreed to extend the ground but the local council refused planning permission due to 'strong local objections'.

Was wondering whether this makes me more or less likely to get a new stadium?

Contradiction. Surely that makes it EVERYTHING to do with finance and crowds. How can you build a new stadium if you don't have the money?

The board obviously considered crowds and finance when they decided to expand the stadium, I know that.

I was wondering how having planning permission refused once affected my future chances of expansion or a new stadium, irrespective of crowds and finance.

My understanding was that the board were able to take out loans to build new stadiums, is this not the case?

As far as I'm concerned the 'planning permission' means that the board are happy to extend your stadium, but not buy a new one. The council won't allow an extension to be made. Sometimes if you bring a bigger tourist trade, from europe or such I think they will accept an extension soon after, but if they keep rejecting then...

... either you need lot more cash or a bigger fan base. Then your board should eventually go for a new stadium instead.

I had this in my Oxford Utd game. Spent a season in premiership with 14000 or so seats as the extension was refused. I got into Uefa Cup and over summer the extension was allowed.

The board don't control the local council refusal. I've been refused permission to expand twice now. However, we've been filling the stadium every match now so hopefully this season.

Don't know about new stadiums though.

I've been stuck with 10000 in EPL, and for 3 seasons. Of course every match it gets filled, and I have lots of money. Chairman agrees to expand it but Merthyr local council hates his football club :p
