Default how much effort do you put in to each match?

hi guys,

I continually read peoples posts on here saying that theyve took lower league clubs to the premiership etc or they havent lost a game at all in the champ league.

I just wondered how much effort everyone puts into each match? I dont usually change my tactics for each game, i dont change player instructions much. I rarely do man marking and special instructions.

just wondered if it was worth doing all the above for each game? and spending much more time with each match.

any info / advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I put a lot of effort into each match (It's worth pointing out here that I still play FM07 - but it makes no difference), I'll always keep the same formation regardless of opposition - usually 4-4-2.
I use a global mentality and depending on the opponent i'll set that to what I think is needed, attacking at home and usually less so away/against very strong opponents.

Watching extended highlights I'll pop back and forth to the tactics screen as the match progresses to alter the mentality, defensive line etc.
I pretty much change the tactic continually (but not drastically) as the match goes on.

A "dream" game would start Wide, Fast tempo, attacking, direct.
And finish off slow, narrow, deep, defensive.
And obviously with a win.

I guess I'm a hands-on manager, I like to get involved.

I've been very successful but don't spend much time on a match. I spent a long time sorting out my tactics in the first place but now, I keep the exact same tactics, formation etc and seem to win. The key thing is keeping your players happy and buying the right ones obviously.

I plan each match meticulously. I always clear my selection and then pick my team one-by-one, which allows me to get a clear plan of what I want to do. Then I spend ages tweaking tactics, though my formation (4-4-2) never changes. I even take a while over substitions. When I'm winning, I almost always switch to defensive tactics and a 5-4-1 formation.

Having said all that, I'm not convinced that that much attention is always necessary. But it's my ritual. Also, I rarely manage anyone other than big clubs, so I can't say whether or not it's helped me build smaller clubs up.

same as neji, i only change my tactics when i hit a bad patch of form, but then i only make a slight change, like moving my mentality a notch up. seems to do the magic
