Hi.. I have searched the forums and it seems the info on tutoring is scattered here and there. I have somethings that I wanna share with you guys.
From the threads, I've read, it seems that the general consensus of the youngest age a person can be tutored is 23. It doesn't matter how old the tutor, as long he's playing for your team.
If sometimes certain young players don't show the "tutor link", then you should cease playing him. I have tried something like this in my Tottenham game: Bale and Ben Arfa has been playing quite regularly for the first team in previous season eventhough their squad status is only backup. That way, Bale and Ben arfa don't show the "link" anymore.
For previous reasons ((Bale has too few PPMs for my liking, Ben Arfa didn't have ANY at all, or their personality is not my preferred one), I would like to tutor them both again. Maybe I'll buy a quality player to tutor them. I tried to loan them for half a season, then when they're back they still don't have the link.
So I tried to just keep them in my reserve, or alternatively, didn't start them. Last start for Bale is August 2007, and Ben Arfa May 2007(last season). I have to wait till November, the link in Ben Arfa shows up. Bale about a month later. I have gone to extreme that I strictly involve both of them ONLY to reserve matches. But I don't think it's necessary.
So there you go, if you decide to involve your youth players in the 1st team (and you still want to tutor him) then make sure you do it after the "tutoring session" had begun. After that, you stick him to subs or reserves for some time.
I didn't find language spoken to be quite determinant (It's contrast to real life) cos I've seen Jenas tutoring Gourcuff but they don't have any Language in common, not even English (basic) for Kaka. Meanwhile I have Gonzalo Rodriguez who speaks Spanish and Pique who speaks Spanish but up til now Pique hasn't got Gonzalo's PPMs. but it's still my opinion though.
The 3 options? I tend to do this:
-Role Model, if they have same position and close personality. If not, u have a big chance a personality clash will happen. Have the highest possibilty that all PPMs will be taken and the young will turn to same mentality. Also position!
-Follow Example, 50-50 chance. I will go great length later, as I have to go home now
-Learn, maximise chance of success, but be prepared for little gain.
I have some questions unanswered, such as:
-How many times can a player learn from a tutor?
-Are there any limit to PPMs, for example a person can have no more than 12 PPMs, such and such?
-CAn you teach a wonderkid whose value soar skyhigh so that he's your best valued player in your team? Or in other words, can you make older player tutor a younger player with value higher than him?
Alright waiting for a response.
