I have created a tactic which has had good luck so far with liverpool. I know they are one of the big four, but they are the bottom
imo of these big clubs.
After using a 4-4-2 most of my time I decided to create something different.
Always liking the protection a DMC gives me I had my defensive players. Having to sacrifice a player for the extra dmc, I decided to sacrifice a forward. Thinking he might be isolated up there on his own I gave him support with an AMC. That left me with 3 midfielders. So it was either 2 wingers and a mc or 3 cms. Thinking that I should concentrate on ampliflying my assets rather than trying to cover my weaknesses, I decided 3 cms and would play up the middle.
When considering my mentalitys I decided upon 5 players defensive, 5 players attack like Arsenal play in real life. Also when creating my defence I thought about the weaknesses I had noticed in previous games. One of these were Fast pacey strikers like bent, doyle, martins, tevez running onto through balls and banging the goals in.
I therefore Pushed my defence up pretty high and ticked play offside. I thought that if these players are going to break through, at least they still have half the pitch to run. (I know teams in real life only push up when winning after scoring on the counter early on but like I cba with that!).
Also what I had noticed was in most of the tactics I had used or downloaded, the centre backs seemed to back off to thier own area. I decided to give them high closing down and hard tackling. I thought that it was worth a penalty every few games compared to the goals that I would leak. Also with my defence pushed up most fouls would be outside the box.
I also gave my full backs hard tackling, wingers legs break easily.
My DMC Is ultra defensive too with hard tackling. The 3 centre midfielders have quite attacking mentalities, high closing down (I think teams should all close down as a unit or gaps appears. I them through balls normal and crossing never. I have also tried the middle of the centre midfield a playmaker but have not really seen any difference in football as results still go my way. Im thinking of using him as a play maker because where in a 4 4 2 direct football tactic, the football can be too spread out and the 1 cm who is not a hard tackler who is playmaker, gets a bit lost.
The Amc I regarded as a forward and the SC out and out striker. The amc has long shooting enabled because although this can result in fewer close range shots, In past games I have found Long shots from every angle can be vital in winning matches when the strikers are having off days.
Starting the season planning to play 2 amc before i had this tactical brainstorm, I was a bit naive in the transfer market buying Del Piero and Cassano and Luis Adriano. This game was to test a tactic and I didnt want to waste time buying players or coaching staff.
Having lost the charity sheild with another tactic against Chelsea, I decided to give this one ago after testing it with a friend earlier who had gone to bed. These are my results so far.

As you can see I have won every game apart from away to fulham which I should have easily won (Liverpool wont believe they lost this) and Charlton away which I drew (Charlton will take this). My best results where the 5-1 victory against wigan where gerrard got 5 goals (1 an own goal!) Arsenal I beat 2-1 away and Utd 2-0 at home (Utd have hardly had a look in).
Also of note is that Gerrard has 7 goals in 7 before getting a long term injury. Cassano is a long term injury, Del Piero long term and Maschereno is injured for a while. Remember reader that I havent concentrated in the transfer market and lack cover. Bellamy has been a revelation as an amc getting 8 goals in 10 games so far.
This is the team formation.

The best thing about this formation is the defence. No more silly goals and winning the ball in midfield. The opposition rarely get a look in. I play the same home and away and manage to score too.
This is where the tactic can be found.

I know I havent played a whole season to test this formation, but I dont have the mentality to play a whole season testing it. Please feel free to give it a try I would like feedback on it from lower club managers.
It is also to use as an example and to give ideas to managers who leak goals via 1 on 1s and striker clean through. You can see the opposition players attempting to do this but getting barged off the ball.
I would really like it if someone adapted the defence to a 4 4 2 or 4 3 3. I dont have the mentality to commit myself to testing formation after formation, but this tactic works and I know why.
