This thread is an FAQ of sorts - New users will hopefully find it useful , experienced ones may use it as a reference
What Is CA?
CA stands for 'cuurent ability'
Every player in the game will have a current ability, a number between 1 and 200 that indicates the overall level of skill the player possess.
An example is David Villa; he starts off with CA of 182, whilst Aaron Rogers starts with a CA of just 25
It is important to remember that CA will change throughout the game, depending on training, age and many other factors
What is PA?
PA stands for “potential ability”
Does exactly what it says on the tin – it defines the maximum value that a players CA can reach (see above)
When a player is created, he is assigned a PA, however unlike CA this amount will never change from the moment it is decide. Consider this:
Player A has CA 100 and PA 200
Player B has CA 100 and PA 110
Player A is the brightest prospect all in all, as player B has almost “maxed out” and is near his peak
Also note that a player does not have to reach his PA – this is just the maximum he could reach if all factors were in his favour – the likelihood is that neither player A or B will reach 200 or 110 respectively.
What does a negative PA mean? I.e. -10
A negative PA is assigned to some players in the game editor – when you start a new game FM will assign the player a PA from te following ranges:
Simple really – make sure you are viewing the screen you want to share with the world, and then press the print screen key on your keyboard (usually near the top right, labelled Prt Scr on some)
Next, open up paint and press Ctrl + V together – the screen should appear in the paint file. Save the image, but here is te important bit: Underneath where it says “File name” use the box to select JPEG.
After saving as a JPEG, visit www.imageshack.us and follow the instructions there.
Alternatively you can download Imageshack Quickshot from here
How do I find out a players CA\PA?
The easiest way is to load up your Editor (provided with the game), search for the desired player and the information is available in attributes > reputational

RVP – Robin Van Persie
RVN – Ruud Van Nistelrooy IMO – In my opinion

[b]What is FM Genie Scout?{/B]
FM Genie Scout is a free utility. It analyses a saved game of your choosing and reports back on players CA, PA , sale value and much more.
Bear in mind that FM Scout is not an editor; it only lets you view these stats.
FM Genie Scout can be downloaded in the Editors Hideaway in here
What is an in game editor, and where can I find one?
An in game editor is a tool that allows the user to make changes to a game they are currently paying. If you have used the editor that comes with your copy of FM then you will understand the basic idea, except in an in game editor you can make changes after a game has started, and see them straight away too.
I don't think there is currently one out at the minute but if there is can you please post the download link
What is “AI”
AI stands for artificial intelligence, an is used on these forums to describe how any non human manager (ie. The computer) handles a situation.
For example the phrase “The AI managers always sign Kerlon before me” simply translates as “one of the computer managers always signs Kerlon before me”
How do I put Harchester in the game?
Before you start a game, on the main menu click preferences and untick the box named harchester. This should put harchester and there players into your game, and will replace a team of your choice.
How do I get Harchester out of my game?
Unfortunately if they are in a current game, you cannot get rid of them until you start a fresh one. To remove them from a new game, simply tick the box named harchester in your preferences and they will be gone
I have an ace team , where can I go to tell people about it?!?
Here are some tips I have discovered, please note these are not "official answers" but should help all the same:
* Offer the player a good squad status (first team or better)
* Make sure you appeal, appeal, appeal
* Bigger clubs seem to be favoured for work permits
* If you cant sign the player, keep tabs on him using your shortlist
Why can i not sign under 18 players from Brazil or Belgium??
Only Brazilian clubs can sign players aged less than 18 in real life, and this is implemented in the game. The same is with Belgium clubs, except only Belgium clubs can sign them instead of Brazilian one's.
Again if the player you desire cannot be purchased, keep your eye on him using your shortlist
An insight into the future
If FM Scout doesn’t appeal to you, we have a team of guys here that will gladly provide you with screen shots of how players turn out. Note that some players have random PA's and also training will be diffrent so the player could turn out completely different in your game.
Simply post your request and one of the guys will get back to you ASAP.
When a player (Del Piero for example) retires, there is one less player in the database for the user to pick from...
Thus, the database then takes the retired Del Piero, and makes a brand new name, age, stats, description etc for him, and he is then placed in a random team.
This basically means that if there were 1000 players in the game to begin with, then by the end of the game, there will be 1000 players.
Hope that makes sense...
However please note...
That regens are in no way related to the player ho retires. If Beckham retires, the regen assigned to replace him could well be a Swiss defender, playing for Monaco with a PA of 10.
What Is A FRED?
A FRED is a player created by the game at the end of every seaosn that has no relation to any player in the game, it is just to balance out the database really.
What Is A Feeder Club?
A feeder club is a club that another club can send players on loan to either to gain first team experience or to help them gain a work permit, or get a first option on there youngsters.
e.g. Walsall are Everton's feeder club. Also, clubs from China, Japan or USA then you should get a great merchandising revenue. You will have to pay your feeder club an annual fee though aswell. You can ask your board for a new feeder club by clicking manager, Board Room, then click make board request, the request feeder club.
What is a Parent Club?
A parent club is a club that can send players on loan to you, and they will also get a first option on all of your players, meaning if you accept an offer for one of your players then if you parent club make a bid of the same amount for that player then you must accept it. They will alternativly pay you an annual fee aswell. You can ask for a parent club by doing what i said above but clicking request parent club instead of request feeder club.
If anyone else can think of anything else to add then post it on here and i'm sure Cleon (or me if there is a way) will add it to the post

I think things like the common acronyms should be took out and you should concentrate on more GPTG related stuff. Like the two posts you have at the bottom.
And remove that ego-boosting name - make it the GPTG FAQ.
