Hi man im in my first season 07-08 at arsenal. He isn't in my starting 11 but making subs bench regular. I have heard he can BECOME good.

I wouldn't use all your money on him but would be a great bargain buy in my oppinion.

Just enquired about Hoyte and the gooners came back with 4.7 million.

Is this a respectable price, or should i be paying a little less?

His current value is 4.4 million!!

I'd say respectable. I signed him on loan for Inter as a backup for Zanetti - ended up outplaying Zanetti, if he wasn't captain Hoyte would have been 1st team regular. His stats also improved during the first season, for the record.

He's a good RB but will never become world-class. It depends what team you are to really say whether to buy him or not. If you're a mid/lower table team, then he's a good buy. He is definitely a good backup to your first choice RB. And he is generally very happy staying on at a club as long as he gets a reasonable number of games. 25 odd games should be enough and you could easily have him play that many with just Carling Cup & the lesser FA Cup matches. A few small matches in the league as well would be fine. He's very solid defensively and quick as well which is required when you come up against quality wingers. He kept Ronaldo & Nani in his back-pocket when I had to play him against Man Utd once (Eboue was away for ANC and Sagna was banned!).

As for the price, since he's transfer listed, I'd look to pay a little less. Around 4M should be fine.

i am hoping to use him as more of a back up as my first choice RB is Micah Richards and my current backup RB is Glen Johnson.

Shall i stick with Glen Johnson or is Hoyte a better choice as backup??

He's just a backup material for top clubs. Good for mid or low-table teams. Arsenal offered him for free to my recently promoted Leeds at the start of 3rd season.

I got him for free as Plymouth half way through second season. Plays well for me.
