Newport County appoint new manager James Da Silva and expect him to achieve a respectable position within the Conference South.
My first job was to sign some scouts so I could get looking for some talent, I signed 2 and they were soon out scouring the country for a bit of talent. By the time the season had started I had signed 5 players and playing a tactic that I had the belief to work, unfortunately it never and left me languishing in 18th place after 15 games.
So, I changed the tactic and created a much more solid tactic which took me on a fabulous run all the way to the top before a loss on the last day of the season saw me slip from 1st to 3rd. That made me tense, I'd took the club this far and now I wanted promotion, a tense play off semi-final saw me win the 1st leg 1-0 but lose the 2nd leg 1-0 and go through on penalties and drawing 0-0 in the final saw the game go into penalties, fortunately I won and now had the decisive Conference North/South playoff final, a game I thought would be harder, how wrong I was, 4-0 up against Nuneaton at half time, the game ended like that.
During the preseason I scoured through all the players my scout had found and none were worthy of coming to the Newport Stadium and so I made no changes to my team, unfortunately this left me languishing in 18th after 15 games with possibly the worst set of players in the league, and the smallest squad.
Swansea City's manager had moved clubs and they were sitting 3rd in League 2, I just had to apply for the job, The White Rock Stadium appealed to me, 20,000 capacity, just played a cup tie against Man Utd so should have some money and I got the job! Employing the same tactic that brought me success in the Conference South I managed to bring results to Swansea, who had just lost 2-1 to Man Utd in the League Cup before my appointment, conceding 4 goals in 20 games (league and cup) and taking the team within a whisker of an FA Cup 6th round game at home to Chelsea!
Currently there are 9 games left this season and I am 10 points clear of 2nd (I took over the team when they were in 9th) and 24 points clear of 3rd and 4th! So 2 more wins shall secure me my place in League 1!
In his own inimitable way, Michal is advising you to check out the top featured topic, the one that tells you there's a qualifying period of 3 seasons before you can update in LLM.
