Bradford Park Avenue 05/06 Update

League Finished 2nd, 22-11-9 overall (77 pts) performed well in the playoffs but lost 3-2 in the North/South Final. As, we lost our best two center midfielders in the run up to the playoff final

Finished 12th in Conference North with a 11-19-12 record with 48 goals and 48 scored against. (Yes lots of draws this year) After a tough first half the team seemed to find itself after a little tactic tweaking. Still the lads were way to inconsistent as we scored almost 20 fewer goals in league from last season so we are looking to improve on that.

Cups
FA Cup lost 3-1 in the 3rd Rd Qualigy Replay to Eastleigh.

FA Trophy lost 4-0 in the 3nd Rd to Chesham.

(Once again we used Cup games to rest the first squad and to identify up and coming talent)

Met the Board's and Supporters Expectations with a safe mid-table finish. However given the squad and the competition this past year we should have made the playoffs.

Items of note:

We finally signed a loanee (who was a quality defender) from one of the local large clubs that share our name......

Currently have a good "core" group of players that play well together but need a decent player or two really compete for promotion.

Midseason Update 06/07

BPA currently lie in 2nd at the midpoint of the seaons. Playing a little above our heads at the moment, however, the playoffs is our current season's goal.

Interesting note, brought in two new strikers this season to shoure up a weakness, one a Conference player with a local reputation and another a unknown trialist. Of the two, the trialist has been a true gem, while the other has been a dud. (As is our leading striker from the past two seasons with only 1 goal to date halfway through the season.).

And now back to the game.....

Hey, I bet I trump the pair of ya!

Unlikely actually, unless I find a striker who knows where the net is to replace the one poached by a major Spanish outfit. I got loads of cash to spend, having wiped out all my debts with one sale, but no one decent wants to come.

I've had to compensate by honing the most ultra-defensive tactics known to man or monkey. A good 50% of my results in the Conference National are 0-0 draws; I have the lowest totals in the goals scored AND conceded columns in the division. And I watch all these games on 90 mins.

Lovin' it

Andy -

Remember a blind striker finds the net every once in a while. I know the feeling, my #1 striker went cold this year 20+ games in and he has 1 goal, in the past he score 20+ a season, not sure what happenned. My Ass man and staff still like him.

KUTGW in your game!

I've got exactly the same with Woking at the moment, lost my star striker to forest when they activated the minimum fee clause, so I have plenty of money, but either no-one wants to come to me, or when they do, I can only offer pittance.

Stll loving it

Bradford Park Avenue 06/07 Update

Well the boys did it and won promotion! However they did it the hard way via playoffs. First we defeated Hednesford in the Northern Conference Semifinals then Hyde in the finals with a 3-2 ET win, tied the score in the 82 minute then won as time was expiring. Welling was defeatd 2-1 to gain promotion in another come from behind affair.

League Finished 2nd, 23-10-9 overall (79 pts) but never really mounted a challenge for automatic promotion.

Cups
FA Cup lost to Redditch 1-0 in the 2nd Qual Rd Replay to Redditch.

FA Trophy lost 5-1 in the 2nd Rd to Farnborough.

(Once again we used Cup games to rest the first squad and to identify up and coming talent).

Exceeded Boards Expectation of a mid-table finish.

Items of note:

Looking forward to having a reserve team to assist in identifying talent though we expect a challenge next year.
