As yet, as a manager of a Conf North team, although I have to admit trying, I've not got friendlies against ANY EPL teams, unless you count playing Man U or Arsenal reserves
I think that what I suggested is'nt really cheating.
I distinctly remember in RL whilst staying at my Gran's in Filey, I used to watch all Scarborough's pre-season friendlies. Just after Italy 1990 world cup, as well as the annual friendlies against the likes of Leeds Utd, Bradford City, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, they somehow managed to get a friendly against Red Star Belgrade
I must admit I was stunned at the time, especially considering Scarborough were the better team at one point and that Red Star fielded over half of the Yugoslav squad that had just been in the World Cup. The same season, Red Star won the European Cup on penalties against Marseilles in probably one of the most boring European Cup finals ever lol.
Point is, I believe that getting money spinning friendlies against the highest level clubs possible is not cheating, just sound business acumen - after all, not only are we managing the players, we're managing the clubs finances to some extent. Especially as a LLM, you ignore the clubs finances at your peril, so finding ways of boosting your finances by using high profile friendlies seems more than fair & sure as hell beats sending out an elderley supporter at for a half-time bucket collection

(Have seen that too lol!!)
