That's the odd thread too many. I've found that after not getting promoted after 8 seasons (split between the Portugese D2B and the Conference North), it's not too easy.

I think it's just about right. Went about 6 seasons on my first (pre-5.0.5) Grays attempt without promotion including devestating playoff losses. Had somewhat better post-patch luck with Maidenhead, although I didn't get them up, either. Happily, however, it's been competetive, entertaining and I haven't broken anything yet.

Just about right, I'd say.

Doh. Make that 2008 for my update thread then - when we're all playing holographic virtual reality FM2008 where you get to wear a big virtual sheepskin coat and throw food at your opponents.

I've never finished higher than eighth in 13 seasons of play. I have no idea what this game looks like outside Conference North or South.

I love the game but can't help thinking someone like me should be finding it more of a challenge........I can't remember the last time I lost a game.

Is the game too easy?

I wouldn't say so, having just 1 league(Brazilian 3rd) and 1 Cup (Vanns Scuk Arse) win in 16 years

Maybe you're just super-talented.

Some of us who have been playing the game and playing it LLaMa-style for years still don't find it easy.

In my last campaign I took Bradford Park Avenue to two promotions in four seasons which could certainly be regarded as a bit unlikely. But in my new patched-up campaign I've taken the reins at East Stirling and have imposed extra LLaMa rules on myself. I'm maintaining a 100% part-time policy with maximum wage of 50 quid per week (all but 3 of the squad are on 10-35 quid though). And I'm staying below the 1200 per week wage budget so I keep a small squad.

As a result I'm way way off any promotion-contending quality - for now. I'll persist.

So my suggestion is self-regulation. If it is the challenge of really having to squeeze every point out of every game that gives you the 'fun factor' and you find your current system too easy, just tighten it up with some extra impositions.

Personally, I like the grade of difficulty the game has now. I took over a struggling Vauxhall Motors side in Conf North and avoided the drop. Way better than the take-over-any-team-and-get-promoted touch that I experienced with previous games.

Hah...1 league win and a cup win...I would kill for that. Most times id go 20 odd years and have jack to my name except a whole stack of relegations .
