Default Into the breach... with Nuneaton Borough

Hi, this will be my account of my current game with Nuneaton Borough, played on FM2005 with small database. I'm about 10 games into my 4th season. Hope this all goes well. I will put my first season up later on tonight and hope to update every 10-12 days (depending on how much uni work I get done ).

Thanks, Liam

- I'm not quite sure what that post means mkus, could you elaborate please

This is the round up of my first season:

04/05 Conference North

With a squad of 25, a wage budget of 4.3k p/w and a transfer budget of 12k, I believed my team had the potential to do better than the mid table position that both my board and the fans were hoping for.

My squad overall was pretty good, a few very decent players and some dire ones. My strongest department was up front, backed up by a solid midield, but sometimes let down by dodgy defending.

The season overall was a succes, the cups didn't go very well, but after reading other threads that is to be expected :p. A very strong finish saw us climb from 8th to end up in 2nd. The league was very tight with 7 points separating the top 8 teams! We clinched promotion with a hard fought win over Newport in the Conference North/South final.

Summary

Conference North: Pos 2nd, W22, D10, L10, For 78, Ag 47, Pts 76
FA Cup: 3rd Qualifying round, lost 1-0 to Bromley
FA Trophy: 1st round, lost 5-4 to Eastwood

Thats the 1st season done, all comments are welcome, i'm new to this so try to be nice/constructive

Thanks, Liam

I'm glad that you recognise the two as being mutually exclusive. (My team love having me as their boss, I can tell you!)

Thanks, Michal

-Thanks for all the support quys

The following is a round up of my second season.

05/06 Conference National

Preseason saw some changes to my squad, 2 retierments, 1 release and one transfer for 22k freed up some wages and put some money in the transfer coffers.

3 good young players; a DC, MC and SC were brought in on free transfers, adding some youthful enery to the squad. So for the rest of the season I had a transfer budget of 35k and a wage budget of 5k, which I was under for 1.4k.

The season started off well with early form seeing us top of the tree, a far cry from the expected relegation battle. And much to my surprise the cups didn't suck all that much, a place in the FA cup 1st round for the first time ever and an FA Trophy run to the 4th round brought in some welcome revenue.

The festive season was a very good one, won all 4 games, freed up some more wages by releasing a player and selling another for 1k (every bit helps ), and I made my first big money signing! Splurging all my transfer money on a young Frenchman with bags of skill and who will be the playmaker of my team. His wages are 1.3k p/w which is a lot but I just have a feeling about him.

From then on Nuneaton never left the top 8 and another strong finish saw us move up to 4th to clinch a play off spot. We beat Carlisle 4-3 on aggregate in the semi and the beat Scarorough 3-0 in a surprisingly one sided final to clinch Football League status for the first time ever.

Summary

Conference National: Pos 4th, W18, D12, L12, For 84, Ag 72, Pts 66
FA Cup: 1st round, lost 5-0 to Swansea
FA Trophy: 4th round, lost 3-2 to Billericay.
Average Attendance: 3895
