I'm going to try splitting my seasonal updates into 3 parts, preseason, up to christmas and then through to the end.

08/09 League One - Preseason

Preseason started with the board asking for more of the same - survival. But this time round they were a little bit more generous, a trasfer budget of 140k and a wage budget of 14.5k/w was what they thought i needed to do my job. Also, I had a request for expanding Manor Park rejected.

Unfortunately I had to sell 2 of my best players, there contracts were up in june 09 and I decided I should cash in and use the money to strengthen the squad. The French midfielder I signed while in the conferance went to Plymouth for 375k, over 10 times what I paid for him 2 years ago. Also my captain was sold for a whopping 475k to Millwall. Also I lost one of my better players on a free after he refused to sign a new contract.

The money received supplemented my transfer budget and bumped it up to 810k, and immediately I signed a new MC for 45k upfront and 45k over 6 months.

So I start the season in a decent state, one or two more signings will hopefully help me push for mid table.

Thats all for now

As the Official FM2005 Nuneaton researcher its good to see someone actually playing as the team and getting a bit of success.

Well done

Good update, apart from the fact you're taking Nuneaton up the leagues while no doubt Tamworth are falling down them.

Hey hey, this is the round up for my 5th season... enjoy

08/09 League One

Just after the first game of the season I signed a young DM C, my scout was very excited by this players potential and so majkes a welcome addition to the squad.

My ambition for this season was mid table, but i would settle for any improvement on last season. It was all going well until the festive programme saw my team decimated by injuries and suspension, the worst being my new playmaker out for 6 months with a broken leg.

7 defeats in a row saw me drop from 12th to 21st with 5 to play. A win against top of the table lifted us to 19th and thats where we stayed for the rest of the season.

Again the cups went well, first round exit in all of them

Summary

League One: Pos 19th, W13, D10, L23, For 55, Ag 68, Pts 49
FA Cup: 1st round, lost 5-3 to Barrow
League Cup: 1st round, lost 3-2 to Bristol Rovers
LDV Vans Trophy: 1st round, lost 2-1 to Stevenage
Average Attendance: 5739

A slight improvement last year, finishing a place higher (despite having exactly the same record in the league) and conceding less goals.

Ciao for now
