06/07 League 2

Preseason saw the introduction of a DL for 12k and a DR for 14k, and saw 6 players leave; 5 for nowt and 1 for 35k.

This left me with 90k to spend and £700 under my wage budget of 6k p/w.

After Christmas I purchased a DC and MC to strengthen the squad at what I feel is an important part of the season.

The cups went as expected, the highlight being a run to the 3rd round of the FA cup.

Mid table was the name of the game until yet another strong finish clinched 7th place and the final promotion spot. Again the lottery smiled on us and we beat Cambridge 3-1 in the final to secure our place in League 1.

It was an odd season in respect to the difference in my ability to score and defend. We may be the only team to be promoted having conceded 95 goals

Summary

League 2: Pos 7th, W20, D12, L14, For 113, Ag 95, Pts 72
FA Cup: 3rd round, lost 3-1 to Brentford
League Cup: 1st round, lost 5-2 to Kidderminster
LDV Vans Trophy: 1st round, lost 3-0 to Cheltenham

The more Karma points, the higher your rating. You are currently at Amateur level. When you get enough points your status will go up a level.

You get them by making posts and apparantly us mods can now add and remove them.

Believe me, it's all eye candy. Don't worry about it.

This is the round up of my first season:

04/05 Conference North

With a squad of 25, a wage budget of 4.3k p/w and a transfer budget of 12k, I believed my team had the potential to do better than the mid table position that both my board and the fans were hoping for.

My squad overall was pretty good, a few very decent players and some dire ones. My strongest department was up front, backed up by a solid midield, but sometimes let down by dodgy defending.

The season overall was a succes, the cups didn't go very well, but after reading other threads that is to be expected :p. A very strong finish saw us climb from 8th to end up in 2nd. The league was very tight with 7 points separating the top 8 teams! We clinched promotion with a hard fought win over Newport in the Conference North/South final.

Summary

Conference North: Pos 2nd, W22, D10, L10, For 78, Ag 47, Pts 76
FA Cup: 3rd Qualifying round, lost 1-0 to Bromley
FA Trophy: 1st round, lost 5-4 to Eastwood

Thats the 1st season done, all comments are welcome, i'm new to this so try to be nice/constructive

Thanks, Liam
excellent work liam

off the topic and may seem a rather silly question but what does KUTGW mean?

07/08 League One

A busy preseason saw 5 players leave on a free and the addition of 2 new players, a DC/R and a AMC also on free transfers.

The board and fans expected us to fight bravely against relegation, and for the first time I agreed with them. After 3 promotions in 3 seasons I was worried we would be out of our depth. My transfer budget for the season was 90k and a wage budget of 10.5k/w, far less than a lot of the clubs in the division.

I spent the first 3 months stuck at the bottom of the table, leaking goals and relying on 1 striker to score the goals, of course he got injured for a month.

During the first few months I was offered jobs from Preston, Doncaster and Gillingham, who all had a lot more money to spend and more money for wages. I was very tempted but am glad to say I passed the test and stuck to the task at hand.

I lost a DC/L on a free, but quickly replaced him with a DC/R that my scout insisted I buy.

December came and I had climbed to 23rd but was still 9 points from saftey. Then the turning point in my season came, I bought a DMC, who I had wanted to sign for 2 seasons, and changed my formation to use his talents to stem the leaking goals.

An instant change in form came about, we slowly made ground on the teams above us to such an extent that we had our own fate in our hands, sitting pretty in 20th place on the last day of the season. A 3-0 victory put an end to a very challenging, but enjoyable season.

Summary

League One: Pos 20th, W13, D10, L23, For 74, Ag 89, Pts 49
FA Cup: 1st round, lost 3-1 to Tamworth
League Cup: 1st round, lost 2-0 to Gillingham
LDV Vans Trophy: 1st round, lost 5-2 to Brentford
Average Attendance: 5516
