I've discovered the ultimate tactic but it gets destroyed if you have injuries.

Your player performs so badly even if he's the wrong side/position it's untrue!!! In real life a good player is a good player? No?

Sorry...having a bit of a moan

Have tried re-training but it never seems to happen....when can you tell if a player has been re-trained to a different side/position and how long does it take for you?

Any comments?

Have you got the latest patch? If I remember correctly this was a problem before the patch, with players getting very low ratings when playing out of position, but the patches have fixed this...?

Yep... got the latest patch...

With small clubs money is a problem....to this end a player must proportionately be able to peform in a situation that isn't always a familiar one?

Basically because it's the same for the other clubs in your division and they usually have smaller squads, so it all balances out.

And it can work in your favour if you're lucky. I brought in a kid in the close season to play as AMC and he was poor. Due to an injury crisis I pushed him up front and he was an immediate sensation, banging goals in all over the shop. Again due to injuries and shortage of specialist wingers I put my DML and DMR on the wings and asked them to play offensively rather than defensively and they've done very well.

I didn't retrain anyone, I just asked the players to be flexible and I did the same with my tactics (there ain't no killer tactic btw).
