Board expectations of avoiding relegation, come January I was thrilling fans and board alike with a mighty 19th place in the conference. Having already turned down job offers from the mighty Northampton Town and Shrewsbury (both lge 2) I accepted the call from a team placed one place above us in the Conference National - a trip of around 20 miles to become manager of Bristol Rovers :arrr: .

A ropey start - due to a wafer thin squad - gave way to a manager of the month award in February (5 wins, one draw) and a total of only three defeats to the end of the season. Final position = 13th. Weston were relegated with two games to go.

Good to be getting crowds of 4,500+ compared to 500 at Weston, and I am relatively confident for the new season. Just have to get down from £8.5k pw over the wage budget. Perhaps.
